ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR SATURDAY, APRIL 11TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Pet Day which is a holiday all about appreciating and celebrating the wonderful pets in your life. There are are approximately 86;4 million pet cats and 78.2 million pet dogs living in the United States today. Girbils, birds, turtles and fish are also very common household pets. Many pet owners consider their pet an important member of the family.
Celebrity pet lifestyle expert and animal welfare advocate Colleen Paige founded National Pet Day to raise awareness about the importance of pet adoption. The motto of this holiday is ‘Don’t shop, Adopt” and is sponsored by the Animal Miracle Foundation. whose mission is to help animals in shelters find forever homes.
To celebrate today take your dog on a walk or give your cat a little extra catnip to show love and appreciation. If you’re not a pet owner, making a donation or volunteering at you local pet shelter will do.
Happy National Pet Day!
Today is also Holy Saturday, and National Cheese Fondue Day. April is National Grilled Cheese Month and Cruelty to Animals Month
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Animals are such agreeable friends- they ask no questions; they pass no criticism.
George Elliot
I am no longer a pet owner, but do have many pet grand dogs. That is what the pictures are of today. They are definitely part of our family and I have dog sit for a few of them. Since I don’t have any of my own, I take advantage of any time I get to spend with them.
I have yet to meet the one shown above who belongs to DS#5 and his family. Hopefully social distancing will soon be a thing of the psst and I’ll get to meet him. His name is Cookie since his coloring is cookies and cream. They got him because their other dog needed someone to play with and they are a good match and love each other.
I haven’t met the dog shown below either, his name is Remy and he belongs to DS#2 and family. They say he’s a little terror on 4 feet and gets in to a lot of trouble. This grand’ma’ would love to hold and cuddle with him. Maybe someday!
My cooking for the weekend is making up a ham sandwich for lunch and enjoying some deviled eggs, potato salad and baked beans as well. I did manage to decorate some Easter eggs so will have some hard boiled eggs on hand too.
When the babes were all at home I’d often make a quiche for Sunday breakfast and that is what the recipe for today is. They always had to eat breakfast before they were allowed to dive into their Easter Basket goodies..
The Bisquick Impossible Quiche
12 slices of bacon cooked
1 cup Swiss or Cheddar cheese, shredded
1/3 c. onion diced
2 c. milk
1 c. Bisquick
4 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tbsp pepper
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Lightly grease a 10 inch pie plate. Sprinkle bacon, shredded cheese and onions evenly over the bottom of the pie plate.
Beat the eggs with salt pepper and then the milk. Add in the Bisquick. Beat until smooth. Pour over the ingredients in the pie plate. Bake in preheated oven for 35 minutes until or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Let cool on a wire rack for 15 mintutes. Slice and enjoy
I hope you have a SUPER Saturday!!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
I can’t imagine God not allowing my dog into heaven.
Rick Warren
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
8012. for all our pets, they are like family
8013. for quick impossible pies, no need to make a crust
8014. for plenty to do while we wait for Easter Sunday!
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU!

I love my grand dogs!
Such cute pups! They are a full time job but so fun to be around!

How precious your grand-pups! That image of the fur-brothers sleeping together … why, I can't even! But my favorite is the last photo - you look so happy. Your pet-less situation sounds like my best friend: when her sister and BIL have to be out of town on business, "Aunt Debbie" gets Snowy. She calls him her time-share dog. :)
Tom and I LOVE quiche, so I'll be clipping and trying this recipe. We used to buy something called "Pour a Quiche" but I've not seen that in the supermarket in ages.
