ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR FRIDAY, APRIL 24TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Arbor Day which a holiday in which individuals are encouraged to plant and care for trees. It originated in Nebraska City, Nebraska in the United States in 1872. J. Sterling Morton is the founder of Arbor day. The first Arbor Day was held April 10, 1872 and an estimated 1 million trees were planted that day.
Trees are an important component of the natural landscape because their prevention of erosion and the provision of weather sheltered ecosystem in and under their foliage. The also play an important role in producing oxygen and reducing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, as well as moderating ground temperatures.
Today Arbor Day is celebrated worldwide. People volunteer their time to plant trees or donate money to preserve forests.
They are also elements in landscaping and agriculture both for aesthetic appeal and their orchard crops such as apples. Wood from trees is a building material as well as energy source in many developing countries. Trees also play a role in many of the worlds mythologies.
Happy Arbor Day!
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I already talked about my tree just a few days ago on Earth Day, but I’ll show the pictures and tell about it again today because they are that important. These pictures are from last summer showing the leaves on the tree. I used to have more than one, but they were cut down due to root problems with the sewer and water pipes. The trees were originally planted too close to the homes here. The one I have is only about a foot or so away from my sunporch.
I miss the trees that are no longer here because I used to have shade all around the house which was really appreciated in the summer time, but do appreciate the one remaining one I have.
I hope you have a FANTASTIC Friday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
He who plants a tree, plants a hope.
Lucy Larcom
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
8051 for trees
8052.for comforting shade
8053. for fresh air to breath
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY

Plant a tree for someone to enjoy in the future
Wonder how many trees will be planted today. Seems like so many things are closed I can't see a lot of people going out and planting. But I do enjoy looking at all the trees we have in our area :)

We lost our big elm tree and I sure miss the shade!! Grateful for the pecans trees we have.
Years ago we had a huge ash tree at the side of the house and that one had to come down. It sure made great shade but had rotted and we were afraid it would fall on the house!
Think I confused Earth Day with our workplace's annual planting. Interesting, those like-kind observances falling on different dates. Years ago when my boss lost her mother, I discovered a web-site where -- instead of sending flowers -- you can have a tree planted in a loved one's memory. I thought that was pretty neat.
