ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 1ST, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
Freedom is never free.
Maya Angelou
We often take our freedoms for granted and forget to appreciate them. There are many in the world that don’t have the freedoms that we have.
It’s sad to think our country was once devided and we fought against each other. Many lost their lives in the hopes that others would be freed. Hopefully now, we will always stand together and fight for the principals of all.
We need to show appreciation for the sacrifices made by our brave men and women who help protect our county's freedom.
Today is Saturday and my day to cook for the weekend and since tomorrow is Super Bowl Sunday, I figured I make some good snack foods.
Slow Cooker Buffalo Ranch Wings
2 lbs. chicken wings
1 c. buffalo wing sauce
1 packet Ranch seasoning
salt and ground pepper
Chives for serving
Ranch dressing, for serving
Place wings in a slow cooker. In a large bowl mix together buffalo sauce and ranch seasoning and season with salt and pepper.
Pour the mixture over chicken wings and stir to coat. Cover and let cook on high until cooked through, 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper and put wings onto them. Broil until crispy, about 5 minutes. Garnish with chives and serve with ranch dressing.
Homemade Buffalo Sauce
Makes 1 cup
1/2 c. melted butter
1/2 . hot sauce
2 tbsp. white vinegar
2 tsp. Worcetershire sauce
Pinch of granulated garlic
Whisk together melted butter, hot sauce , vinegar, worcestershire sauce and garlic until well combined. Store in an airtight container in refrigerator, shaking to blend well before using, Will keep refrigerated up to one month.

COUNTING MY GIFTS
On the other side of fear lies freedom.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
7823.for freedom, it’s never free
7824. for our military who protect our freedom
7825. for each new day, another chance to get it right
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
ADVICE FOR TODAY
For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.
Nelson Mandela
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

United we stand...
… divided we fall. Yes, indeed! Let us never forget, or even take our freedoms for granted.
Thanks for sharing this yummy recipe for the buffalo sauce! I suppose one can buy it already made, but this sounds more economical and can be tweaked to suit one's own tastes. We don't eat wings very often; I wonder if this (sauce) wouldn't taste good poured atop a meatloaf?
Thank you for sharing this important day in history. It should be a national day.
I'm glad we have the freedoms we have in this country. I feel sometimes these days we are again divided; I hope this time it won't start another war!
