ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR SATURDAY, OCTOBER 19TH, 2019
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Sweetest Day which is primarily celebrated in the Great Lakes Region and parts of Northeast United States and is always on the third Saturday in October. It’s an opportunity for all of us to remember not only the sick, aged and orphaned, but also friends, relatives and associates whose helpfulness and kindness we have enjoyed.
On this, the anniversary of Sweetest Day we are encouraged to be generous even in the smallest ways. From it’s inception in 1916, this day reminds us that even small takens improve the lives of those around us. On this day take care of all those that need some extra attention. A little treat, a card, a show of support during a time of need may be the sweetest gift on this day.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side .
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
It’s always a good time to let someone know you are thinking about them and let them know you care, so sweetest Day will be celebrated here at my house. I’m sending out love and best wishes to all my Sweeties today. You are the best part of my life and I care about you and appreciate all of you.
As a treat for the part of my family that lives close by, we are going to a Pumpkin Fest here at the community center where I live this evening. . It’s a potluck dinner with fun activities for the grands. They’ll be decorating pumpkins along with having lots of good food. Along with cooking for the weekend today, I’ve made macaroni salad to share at the Pot Luck.
Dinner for the weekend is going to be pork roast cooked with sauerkraut and apples.
Crock Pot Pork Roast withe Sauerkrat and Apples
2 tbsp butter
1.5 to 3lb. pork loin roast
salt and freshly ground pepper
1 32 oz package /jar of sauerkraut, undrained
2 tbsp maple syrup
2 tbsp. brown sugar
2 tbsp. brown mustard
1/2 onion chopped
1 medium apple, sliced
Melt the butter in a skillet over medium high heat. Sprinkle the pork roast with salt and pepper on all sides., then brown it on all sides in the hot skillet. When roast has been evenly browned place it in a crock pot.
In a large bowl, combine the sauerkraut, chopped onion, sliced apple, maple syrup and brown sugar. Spread it evenly over the pork roast. Cover and cook for 6-8 hours on low or on high for 4 to 5 hours or until meat is very tender. Shred or slice and serve with plenty of sauerkraut mixture on top. Serve with you favorite potatoes and a green salad or steamed vegetables. Makes 10 to 12 servings. This’ will be Sunday Dunner. I’ll simply plug in the crockpot before I go to church on tomorrow to warm and it’ll be ready for dinner when I come home.
The pictures today are of my sweeties near and far. I love you all!
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday! Happy Sweetest Day!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
I’ve learned that you shouldn’t go through life with a catcher mitt on both hands. You need to be able to throw something back.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, and honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.
Leo Buscaglia
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

I'd not heard of Sweetest Day before … but I love the concept! Your family's smiles are, indeed, SWEET. It's finally turned cool here in 'Bama, so my thoughts turn to comfort food -- this pork and sauerkraut -- Yummmmm!
