ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 9TH, 2019
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Today is Fire Prevention Day which commemorates the Great Chicago Fire that burned from October 8th to early October 10, 1871, killing hundreds and destroying about 3.3 square miles in Chicago, Illinois.
The newspaper account of the origin of the fire is that it was started by a cow kicking over a lantern in the barn owned by Patrick and Catherine O’leary, in 1893.
The reporter who wrote the account admitted he had made it up as colorful copy. The barn was the first building to be consumed by the fire, but the official report could not determine the cause.
In 1911, the 49th anniversary of the fire, the Fire Marshalls Associaltion of North America sponsored the first National Fire Prevention Day, which exists to raise awareness of practices that can help prevent these disaters and to recognize the work of the firefighters who relieve them
Remember EDITH, which stands for Exit Drills in the Home. Today is a good day to have a practice drill.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side .
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Fire Prevention is a good way to stop fires. # 1 we should have a smoke alarms in our home and replace the batteries on a regular basis. It’s part of my fall checklist.and I usually do it on the Sunday in November when we set the clocks back.
Never leave food cooking unattended, especially deep fryers and other frying equipment.
Avoid using portable space heaters. They are the 2nd leading cause of home fires.
Have s plan that gets you out of your home in less than two minutes and practice it.
Better safe than sorry.
It’s midway through this week already and it’s time for me to step it up a notch. There is lots to be done before the end of the week. I got some shopping done yesterday so I’m thinking today I’ll do some laundry and clean up the ktichen. while the wash does itself. The floor needs a good cleaning and I’m washing the throw rugs.
After several days in the 60’s we’re warming up a bit to the 70’s. I turned the furnace on the first time yesterday evening just to take the chilll off. It’s not easy making the transition from hot to cold. But today should be just right!
Thankfully I don’t have any pictures of homes on fire today, but I do have campfire pictures to share. There is nothing like a campfire to keep warm by in fall. Sweet memories of the days we used to go camping.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!
