ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

WELCOME MAY!
The month of May is International Drum Month, National Asparagus Month, National Dental Care Month, National Stroke Awareness month, National Military Appreciation Month, National Foster Care Month, National Barbecue Month, National Bike Month, National Hamburger Month, National Salad Month, National Strawberry Month, National Water Safety Month and National Moving Month.
Today is May Day which has been celebrated on the first of May for hundreds of years, but for two very different reasons. For some people May Day is a celebration of Spring. For others it is a celebration of workers’ rights marked by rallies, parades and marches.
One of the most popular May Day traditions is harvesting flowers and giving them to neighbors in cone shaped baskets called May Day Baskets.
To celebrate we can attend a May Day festival or bring a bouquet of May Day flowers to a loved one.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Spring is nature’s way of saying, Let’s party !
Robin Williams
I do remember May Day celebrations when I was a child at school. There would be ribbons attached to a pole that we would hold on to and dance, weaving the ribbons around the pole as we went around it. We’d also make little bouquets of flowers to take home to our parents. I don’t know if anything like that is done these days, but this is a wonderful time of year to give flowers.
April showers have brought a lot of flowers our way. Now we’re hoping it will dry out a bit so we can get outside and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. May is usually a little warmer than April so we’re anticipating some lovely days ahead.
Today I’m going for my monthly appointment to get my hair cut and also cooking up something new to have for dinner. As I’m going to be gone awhile, I thought it’d be nice to start something in the crockpot and let it cook so dinner will be ready by the time I’m home.
Keibassa and Saurekraut
2 14 oz cans sauerkraut, drained
1 onion choipped
2 lbs potatoes peeled and cut into large chunks
1 lb. Kielbassa, cut into chunks
1 c. water
1 tsp. caraway seeds, optional
1 bay leaf
1/4 tsp. pepper
Place sauerkraut, onion, and potatoes on bottom of slow cooker. Add the kielbasa and water. Top with spices.
Cook for 6 hours on low or until potatoes are tender. Serve with mustard if desired.
The house should be filled with wonderful smells when I return.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Spring is God’s way of saying, One more time!
Robert Orben
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
7024. for May flowers
7025. for a crockpot to use, saves time
7026. for a hair cut, always wonderful
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Happy May Day!
I love that pretty wreath! When Amber and Ben were young, we would take May Baskets to our neighbors and hang them on the front door knobs. Maybe I’ll cut a couple of bouquets this afternoon for the neighbors beside me.
Your dinner sounds good and it will be nice to walk in the house later knowing you have a meal ready to eat!
A hair cut makes any day just a little bit better!
That's a great recipe, Ma! I bet it tastes delicious! May is a great spring month here. Its warming up, but not so much and I enjoy the extra light we get in the morning and the evenings!
May it be a great month!

Happy May Day! I, too, posted about that today … remembering the excitement of ringing someone's doorbell and beating it so as not to get caught. Honestly, I'm surprised how many people remember! Your recipe sounds yummy; I hope you enjoyed a pleasant day!
That recipe does sound good! Did you get a good haircut? I either get scalped or else, I can hardly tell they have cut any of my hair! :-)
