ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Apple Pie Day which is America’s favorite pie. However it wasn’t actually invented in the U.S. Rather it was invented in Europe sometime during the 14th century. The first apple pie recipe was printed by Geoffrey Chaucer in 1381 in England. The ingredients included apples, spices, raisins, figs, pears and saffron all enveloped in a pastry crust.
In the 1970's advertisers exploited the patriotic connection with commercial jingles and slogans saying, as American as apple pie. Apple pie is sometimes served with whipped cream or ice cream on top. Pastry is general used top and bottom, making it a double crust pie.
To celebrate today bake or buy a delicious apple pie to share with family or friends. And don’t forget the ice cream!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples then you and I will still each have one apple, But if you have and idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas the each have us will have two ideas.
George Bernard Shaw
It’s no secret that I have a sweet tooth so today will be celebrated here at my house. Apple pie and ice cream sounds like a great way to start off a new week.. I’ll be taking the easy way out and make an Impossible Apple Pie, using Bisquick.
Impossible French Apple Pie
For the Streusel:
1/2 c. Bisquick baking mix
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. chopped nuts
2 tbsp. butter
For the Pie:
3 c. sliced, peeled apples
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 cup Bisquick baking mix
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. milk
1 tbsp. butter, softened
2 eggs
Heat oven to 325 degrees. Spray a 9 ince pie plate with cooking spray. In small bowl, mix 1/2 cup Bisquick mix, brown sugar and nuts.. Cut in butter until crumbly and set aside.
In medium bowl, mix apples cinnamon and nutmeg. Spread in pie plate. In a medium bowl stir remaining ingredients until blended. Pour into pie plate and sprinkle with the streusel mixture.
Bake about 45 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean and top is golden brown. Cool for 5 minutes. Serve warm or cool. Store covered in refrigerator.
I had a wonderful Mothers Day and got some great gifts and also got to spend time with one of my DIL’s at church. We always take an annual family Mothers Day picture and this year there there was just the two of us. That being said the pictures today are from yesterday and the projects that I finished up last week.
It’s a new week and I have several new projects I want to start. The weather forecast is full of rain so I’m limited in what can be done. I really want to get out and wash down the patio on the carport side of the house and plant some flowers, but the weather is holding me back.
So I’m going to spend some time in the craft nook this week. I’ve plenty waiting to be done there and there’s no time better than a rainy day.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
An apple a day keeps the doctor away.
Old Saying
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
7060. for apple pies, good and good for you too
7061. for new projects to do, keeps me out of trouble
7062. for a great Mothers Day!
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

ADVICE FOR TODAY
Every thought is a seed. If you plant crab apples, don’t count on harvesting Golden Delicious.

Don't count the days, make every day count!
I like the picture of you and your DIL, Ma! Your hair style is a great one! Cute little craft projects you've been working on too! I didn't know that about apple pie so I learned a new thing today. It is one of my favorite pies to eat :)
