ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is National Hamburger Day which has been a staple of the American diet for decades. We eat almost 50 billion burgers a year which is the equivalent of three burgers a week for every person.
Although hamburgers originated in Hamburg, Germay, eating a burger on a bun is actually an American tradition. The hamburger as we know it was most likely invented in Seymour, Wisconsin. Each year the city hosts a hamburger festival known as the Burger Fest.
To celebrate the day grill up some tasty burgers. Don’t forget about all the delicious ways you can customize your burger. Add bacon, ketchup, tomato, lettuce, mayo and your other favorite fixings. Nothing says summertime like a big, juicy hamburger!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I was made for sunny days.

While I do love hamburgers, I don’t have them every week. Maybe, if I’m lucky I’ll have them once a month. I guess I’m not your average American. I like a variety of things and make lots of new recipes to keep from having the same thing over and over.
The most popular hamburgers seem to be the ones done outside on the grill, but the recipe I’m sharing today is done on the stove top in a cast iron skillet.
Juicy Lucy Burgers
Makes 4 burgers
1 1/2 lb. ground beef
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
3/4 tsp. garlic salt
1 tsp pepper
4 slices American cheese
4 hamburger buns, split
Combine beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt and pepper in a large bowl. Mix well. Form in 8 thin patties. Each patty should be slightly larger than a slice of cheese.
Cut each slice of cheese into 4 equal pieces. Stack the pieces. Sandwich each stack between 2 ground beef patties. Tightly squeeze edges together, pinching them to seal the cheese inside. Repeat with remaining cheese and patties.
Preheat cast iron skillet over medium heat. Cook burgers until well browned. It is common for patties to puff up so after turning burgers prick the top of each to allow steam to escape. Cook until browned on the outside and no longer pink on the inside. Serve on hamburger buns. I like mine with sautéed mushrooms and onions.
It may be Tuesday, but it definitely feels like a Monday here at my house. After a long holiday weekend, it’s hard for me to get back into the swing of things. Number one on my list for today is laundry. I was away all last week so I’ve definitely got some catching up to do.
Sorry, no pictures to share of hamburgers today, but instead I’m sharing some of the flowers I got yesterday. It’s still a work in progress. The roses I got are called knockout roses. I’ve loved them since DDIL#4 had some on her patio and now I’ve some of my own.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
7105. for burgers, anyway you like them
7106. for my cast iron skillet, making things good
7107. for lots to do, I’m never bored
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

ADVICE FOR TODAY
If summer had one defining scent, it’s definitely the smell of barbecue.

It's Tuesday, but seems like Monday today...time to get busy ...
Your new plants are lovely! After the long Winter you've endured, I imagine seeing them is a reason to smile.
I could eat a hamburger -- or what I call 'loose meat' -- every day. So versatile!
I eat hamburgers often but sometimes without the bun:) Love that coleus!
Such pretty plants Ma! We had hamburgers Saturday night. So very tasty! Grandson ate pretty much all of his too! You are right, hamburgers can be made so many different ways. I think that's why people don't get tired of them though son did go through a time when he was a bit tired of them when he worked at Red Robin. They serve a lot of burgers and as part of his "pay" he got a meal a day. Not too many other choices other than burgers!

Love it when the scent of grilled burgers are floating around!
