ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Love A Tree Day which is the perfect day to celebrate all the wonderful things that trees contribute to this planet.
They say that some trees live to be several thousand years old. A mature tree can remove 70 times more airborne pollutions that a newly planted one. A single tree produces about 250 pounds of oxygen each year. And over 20 percent of the Earth’s oxygen is produced in the Amazon Rainforest.
Trees provide shade and shelter, timber for construction, fuel for cooking and heating, and fruit for food.
To celebrate today take a walk in the woods or plant a tree. It’s important to take care of our trees and appreciate their significance to our well being.
Today is also National Barbecue Day
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
I do love trees and walks in the woods. I have a tree here where I live and do appreciate it’s beauty and it’s shade on hot summer days.
Oxygen is a necessity for all of us and we need the trees to provide it. It’s a miracle how they absorb the carbon dioxide and transform it into fresh air. Truly what would we do without them.
Yesterday was wonderful here, a bit warmer and sunnier. I didn’t get yard work done, but will today. I don’t have anything else I need to do.
Since it’s also barbecue day I thought I’d fix something to celebrate the occasion . They say that barbecue sauce is one of the best liked toppings for sandwiches so I’ll be making up some burgers topped with barbecue sauce and slaw today.
Sweet and Bold burger with Hot Pepper Cheese
Barbecue sauce
Slaw dressing
Garlic Toast
Cole slaw mix
Ground beef
Hot Pepper Cheese slices
Assemble ground beef patties and grill. Cover burgers with slices of hot pepper cheese. Place burgers on Garlic Toast, top with barbecue sauce and a spoon full of coleslaw. Cover with a 2nd piece of toast and serve.
I hope you all have a GREAT day; Happy Thursday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
He who plants a tree plants a hope.
Lucy Larcom

7070. for sandwiches, barbecue is good
7071. for sunshine, always welcome
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

My tree is an oak tree and there are truly a lot of acorns on the ground. The squirrels love them!
I love trees! Do you know what the acorn said when it saw the mighty oak? Gee, I'm a tree! (Geometry) I have loved that since 1st grade. You know I told my geometry teacher that in 9th grade! LOL!!
Your oak tree is beautiful! Have several tree on our property and often think of the benefit of the shade but forget the oxygen benefits.
There are trees around here other than palm trees so I'll take a moment or two to look at them and be grateful for all the oxygen they make for us. I can't ever imagine a world without trees.
Yum on the recipe. I'm going to try it this summer. I do like that type of cheese.
Have a good day Ma!

So, we've been here (Alabama) 14 months now, and I still haven't lost my awe at all the pretty trees! Funny. I didn't realize today honors BBQ, but Tom and I lunched at our favorite BBQ joint a few hours ago. They said they usually put a scoop of coleslaw on their BBQ sandwiches; did he mind? No, not at all! He also enjoyed fried pickles. Not sure if that's a 'Southern thing' but he was raving about it.
