ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Eat What You Want Day which is a day to ignore diets and indulge in the foods you love most. While junk food is certainly acceptable, don’t forget to include your favorite meals as well and keep in mind this does not mean eat all you can.
They say dieting is a relatively new phenomenon. Our ancestors were concerned with getting more carbohydrates and fats into their systems, not less. The first fad diet programs appeared in the U.S. during the 19th century and today people are still trying out all sorts of things to lose a few pounds.
To celebrate today, eat all your favorite foods but do not overdo. If you suffer from allergies or serious diseases, you should think about whether or not to participate.
Either way, I hope you enjoy every bite !

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The only time to eat diet food is while you’re waiting for the steak to cook.
Julia Child
This is one holiday I celebrate every day. I am blessed to be able to always eat what I want. I have tried dieting in the past, but gave up . I am who I am, and I don’t think it matters if I’m thin or not. It's not going to make me be a better person. When it comes to heathy eating, I figure anything is good if it’s done in moderation.
Some people do have to watch what they eat for health reasons, but in my case, I don’t have any problems.
I’m cooking for the weekend today and have decided to make some soup. It’s to be a damp and chilly weekend so it will hit the spot.
Crock Pot Beef Noodle Soup
Serves 8
2 lbs stew meat
1/4 c. olive oil
2 tbsp. butter
4 c. beef broth
2 c. water.
1/2 tsp celery seed
1 tsp. pepper
salt to taste
1 c. frozen peas
4 carrots, sliced thin
2 to 3 c. Kluski egg noodles
In a skillet, add olive oil and butter. Brown cubed beef on all sides. Remove from skillet and place in heated crockpot. Add onion to same skillet and sauté. Then add to crockpot. Add beef broth, water, carrots, celery seed, black pepper and salt. Allow to cook for 8 hours on low. Add peas one hour before serving.
Cook noodles according to package directions. Drain and add to crockpot . Heat through and serve hot.
I’ll be making some buttermilk biscuits to have with, but a nice crusty bread would do as well.
The pictures today are of some good times enjoying good food with some of my family.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

ADVICE FOR TODAY
If more of us valued food and cheer and song, above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.
J.R.R. Tolkien
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

I eat what I want, but that doesn't mean I overeat....moderation is good.
That's another good recipe you shared with us, Ma. So true to eat in moderation. Our ancestors were burning off so many calories with their work they never had to worry about watching what they ate. With all the modern inventions we have, I don't think we get as much exercise as they did and thus some of us have to be careful with portion sizes and eating in moderation. Have a great Saturday!

What a perfect day!
A couple weeks ago it became necessary to employ that 'D' word. SO disappointed the pounds aren't slipping off like they did in my 20's and 30's.
I was worried what my DIL might fix today that I could eat … but reading this, I think it's more important to enjoy one another's company and WHATEVER is served.
The soup sounds good! I never thought of beef noodle but I like it!
That table full of good food with family lined up on both sides is a great picture! You do live such a blessed life! Wonderful to be in good health! I’m about to do our pill boxes for the month and it is a daunting task! Still, the medicine keeps us healthy and some of what we take is vitamins and such to go with it.
Happy Mother’s Day to you, my dear!
