ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is New Year’s Eve which is celebrated across the globe. Many have fireworks displays and other festivities to celebrate the start of the New Year.
In the United States huge crowds gaiters in New York City to watch the ball drop in Times Square, a traditions that began in 2907 after firecrackers were outlawed. At midnight it is customary to kiss a loved one, make a toast and sing Auld Lang Syne.
We can celebrate at home with our families or go out on the town with friends and enjoy the countdown to midnight! Happy New Year !
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
On the Seventh Day of Christmas, My True Love Gave to Me: Seven Swans a Swimming.
My Gift for you today is a recipe for:
Seven Layer Dip
1 can bean dip
1 avocado, peeled, seeded and chopped
2 tbsp. lemon juice
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1/2 c. sour cream
1 pkg. dry taco seasoning mix
2 large ripe tomatoes, chopped
1/2 c. sliced black olives
1 can cheddar flavor cheese dip
1/2 c. chopped green onions
Tortilla Chips
Spread bean dip in a shallow 2 quart dish. Arrange avocado over beans. Sprinkle with lemon juice and garlic salt. In small bowl combine the sour cream and taco mix. Spread it over the avocado. Top with a layer of tomatoes and olives. Spread with cheese dip and sprinkle with green onions. Serve with tortilla chips. Makes 6 cups.
Every New Year’s Eve I try to stay awake until Midnight and watch the ball drop on TV. It is a hard thing for me to stay awake that long. One year I cleaned out my recipe box so I’d have something to do that would keep me awake so late. This year I’m going to try my best, but don’t really have a project to work on. Hopefully there will be a great movie or two that I can watch to pass the hours.
I’m not sad to see another year ending as endings always mean new beginnings. I’m thankful for the past and look forward to the future, but try to live in the present and enjoy each moment as it comes.
Today’s pictures are more of our family Christmas. This time we’re in the kitchen.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!
Happy New Year’s Eve!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
When I think of any of my successes, I am thankful to God from whom all blessings flow, and to my family and friends who enrich my life.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU!

Ring out the old, Ring in the new!
What a super image of you and your daughter, Pam! Frame-worthy, methinks. :)
Well, you 'got' me again with that clever take on 7 Swans. I couldn't figure any recipe with 'swan' in the title. Ha!
Tom's doing steak tonight, but tomorrow is likely to be a chip-and-dip sort of day here on Chapman Road. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
The kitchen.... the absolute *best* place to gather. Happy New Year's Eve, MA!! Love, Andrea xoxo
Kitchens are always the places that people seem to gather when getting together :) I doubt we'll make it to midnight tonight; haven't in a few years! I saw that New York City today could have rain showers. Not sure I would want to be out there waiting for the ball to drop in those conditions!
betty
I love the sound of that dip! My sister used to have that at our family gatherings but she lives in Colorado now. I think I will make it and tell her she is with us in spirit! The food we share makes memories! Happy last day of 2018!
Loved all the pics today but that last one is my favorite!
No TV reception in the country so we may or may not be up until midnight. I have a bottle of sparkling wine chilling just in case we are.
Happy New Year!!!
