ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Hard Candy Day, which is a sweet day to enjoy a sugary sweet treat by enjoying a piece or two of your favorite hard candy. It’s a celebration of all types of hard candies from candy canes and lollipops to caramels. Most hard candy is 100 percent sugar with flavorings and color added. The first hard candies such as lemon drops and peppermints were likely prescribed as a remedy for stomach ailments.
Hard candy became popular in the 17th century as sugar prices fell. Previously hard candy was something that only the well to do could afford. By the mid 1800’s, over 400 companies were manufacturing this popular treat.
In 2015 Jolly Ranchers surpassed Wether’s Original as the best selling hard candy. Other popular hard candies include Dum Dum Pops, Life Savers, Tootsie Roll Pops and Charms Blow Pop.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
If ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ were candy and nuts, wouldn’t it be a Merry Christmas!
Don Meredith
I most always have some type of hard candy on hand. Right now I have candy canes and cinnamon candies here. Both are good. I’ve never tried to make my own hard candy, but have used crushed candy canes to decorate Christmas cookies and cakes. I also like to make a dip made of cool whip and crushed candy canes which is delicious when paired with chocolate cream filled wafer rolls. I like to make it this time of year to share with my family. And of course I love to stir my hot chocolate with a candy cane too.
Now that my gifts have been sent out in the mail, I just need to wrap the others so that they will be ready when we have our family Christmas gathering on the 29th. I’m ready to get busy in the kitchen and make up some treats to eat and to share. Hopefully I’ll have some pictures to share soon.
It’s mid week and today is my day to do a little shopping and run a few errands. They say it’s to be partly cloudy with temps in the mid 40’s so it will be a good day to be out and about.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Bless us Lord, this Christmas with quietness of mind; Teach us to be patient and always to be kind.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
6625. for hard candies, yum
6626. for a nice day to get out
6627. for a season to be merry
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY

Candy: Sugar and spice and everything nice!
What a handsome young lad! I love his shirt!
Sure is a small world, Pam! My ('medley') post this morning talks about commemorating National Hard Candy Day! … and now I'm humming Dolly's splendid song, Hard Candy Christmas.
"I'll be fine and dandy …" I hope you are, as well!
My mom liked hard candy. I would always send her some for the Christmas season.
