ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Ice Cream Day which is the perfect snack on hot humid summer days. In 1984 President Ronald Regan proclaimed July as National Ice Cream Month. He also established National Ice Cream Day as the 3rd Sunday in the month.
Ice Cream is nutritious. A little heavy on the sugar and calories, ice cream is otherwise good for you. Its base ingredient is milk, which is loaded with healthy vitamins and minerals.
Today is also I Love Horses Day, National Gummi Worm Day and National Tapioca Pudding Day
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
We dare not trust our wit for making our house peasant to our friend, so we buy ice cream.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Today is Sunday and for me the perfect time to have an Ice Cream Sundae. My favorite sundae is called a Turtle Sundae and it’s delicious. It is vanilla ice cream covered with hot caramel and hot fudge toppings. As if that isn’t enough, you add pecans and whipped topping. As it happens I do have all the needed ingredients so I’m all set to celebrate Ice Cream Day.
Our temps have soared back up into the 90’s. It’s going to be a day to keep cool again and stay in the air conditioning for me. Thankfully we did get a few days with a break from the heat before it returned.
I made a pot of fresh green beans with bacon and potatoes yesterday so Sunday dinner is almost ready. They are first fresh green beans of the season and I can make a meal out them. But I’ll also have a cucumber and tomato salad, cherries and cantaloupe. My sister and her hubby took me along with them on Friday to some Amish vegetable stands south of here. This is the time of year when eating gets really good with fresh vegetables and fruits grown in Ohio.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
There is nothing wrong with me a little ice cream won’t fix.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
My advice to you is not to inquire why or whither, but just enjoy your ice cream while it’s on your plate. That’s my philosophy.
Thornton Wilder
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

Fresh veggies are such wholesome treats. I can't recall the last time I tasted good corn on the cob!
Growing up my 'go-to' after school snack was vanilla ice milk with Hershey syrup poured over it … then stirred together like crazy. (I didn't taste 'real' ice cream until Baskin Robbins came to Los Alamos in '65.)
Your photo of the cantaloupe and cherries, that is just gorgeous!
I am playing catch up here this morning Pam! Your dinner of fresh veggies sounds so lovely. Bacon, Beans and potatoes are a real favourite around here also. Your wee one enjoying his ice cream cone is such a sweet photo! I can remember how exciting it was when I was a child to be treated to an ice cream cone! We have an ice cream van which goes around the housing area we live in. The children are drawn to it like a magnet! God bless. xoxo
