ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is the first day the Dog Days of Summer which are the hottest and steamiest part of the season. Typical this is the period that Sirius, the Dog Star rises at the same time as the Sun, from July 3rd through August 11th.
If you are feeling the effects of hot, muggy, sultry weather, you can be certain you are in the Dog Days of Summer. It is also a period of drought and occasional thunderstorms.
It’s a time to enjoy summertime activities that help to keep us cool such as going to the beach or lazing under a shady tree. It’s tempting to stay in air conditioned comfort of the indoors but we should get out and enjoy the hot weather while it’s here. After all the days are already growing shorter and you know what ultimately leads to...
God made these dog days for us to either enjoy, or suffer through…depending upon your point of view.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Deep Summer is when laziness finds respectability
Sam Keen
This hot and humid weather that we’ve been having tends to leave me wilted and weary, but it’s still better than winter. I do try to get outside for awhile each day and enjoy it. I know I have a cool air conditioned home when it gets too hot though and appreciate it very much.
When I was young and growing up air conditioning was unheard of. We cooled off the best we could with fans and if we were in a car, we rolled the windows down and let the wind blow in. How things have changed.
Today’s pictures are of some of my family enjoying summer on a boat and in the water. A great way to keep cool and have fun. I prefer sitting in the shade with a tall glass of iced tea and a good book myself. But they are young and have the energy for it and looks like they had a lot of fun.
I found a recipe for a creamy dip which is perfect for dipping grapes, berries and pineapple in and am sharing it with you today.
Brown Sugar Fruit Dip
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1, 8 oz pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 c. sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup frozen whipped topping, thawed
Garnish: brown sugar
Beat brown sugar and cream cheese with mixer till smooth. Add sour cream, vanilla beating until blended and smooth. Fold in whipped topping. Cover and chill. Garnish if desired and serve with assorted fruit.
There is nothing like fruit to keep you feeling refreshed in the summer and I’ve been having a lot of it.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!

Even the hot days are wonderful and much better than the cold that will eventually come!
When it's unbearably hot and buggy outside, I must confess to having a huge appreciation for air conditioning. For me, the very best thing about summertime is the abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Have a bang-up 4th!!!
How fun with the boat! We are starting to warm up here so I guess we are in the dog days of summer, but our hot weather will last longer than August 11th, LOL. I much prefer hot weather over hot humid weather, LOL. That humidity just sucks the life out of me it seems.
betty
I've always heard of the 'dog days of summer' but never knew its origin! Summers aren't my favorite time of year, but then I've never had to experience the kinds of winters common to your neck of the woods.
That dip sounds wonderful! I've already been to the grocery, but will definitely be making it soon. Happy Independence Day!
