Today is National Junk Food Day which is an opportunity to guiltlessly eat your favorite junk food. Dietitians will tell you that junk food is any food that contains little nutritional value. Very often junk food is high in salts, fats, and sugars. In other words, junk food is all that salty stuff that is bad for us.
We can celebrate today and eat anything we want, but tomorrow it’s back to a healthy diet.

I am a snacker and the junk food I have is both sweet and salty. I keep a basket on the table that is always filled with snacks. Right now I also have some maple cinnamon rolls and some Krispie Kreme donuts on the table. And I always have a bag of chips on hand and like to snack on Chex Mix too. They are all shown in todays pictures.
Although I like to snack, the meals I have are mainly healthy. I made a pot of stuffed peppers yesterday that I’ll be enjoying through the weekend. I made them in the crockpot so I wouldn’t heat the kitchen up by turning on the oven. I rarely go out to eat but like to cook at home and even enjoy my own cooking.
Today we have another chance of rain. There is definitely more humidity in the air and my air conditioning is on. I was pleasantly surprised when I got my electric bill this month and saw it wan’t bad at all. It’s a whole lot cheaper for me to keep the house cool in the summer, than to heat it in the winter.
It’s a lazy day for me and the only plans I have is to browse the internet and try to decide on what I want to paint next. Gotta start making plans for Christmas gifts, I always start painting those when Christmas in July comes around… it takes me every bit of the time between then and Christmas to get it all done.

Vegetables are a must on a diet. I suggest carrot cake, zucchini bread and pumpkin pie.

Junk food may not be good for us but I love crunchy munchies!
I bet those stuffed peppers are delicious. I never thought of making them in the crock pot. I'll have to try that. I like junk food, mainly salty ones these days, but since we've been dieting gave them up. Do miss occasionally those potato chips.

Oh, those cinnamon rolls look so good! I would love to have one right now along with a big glass of ice cold milk!
Normally I’m a salt addict but cinnamon rolls are my favorite sweet! I can pass on nearly every thing else.
I’m about to go down and do Critter Chores and then come back to read the Bible and have coffee. No real agenda for the day. A day to just BE instead of DO for a change. We all need some of those!

National Junk food day. I try hard not to eat too much junk food, but it has a habit of getting in my mouth! I love the sweet and salty fix and I adore goldfish. I love your vegetable suggestions. ;-) I am all for them! We were gifted today with a very generous amount of fresh veg and some farm fresh eggs from someone at church. It was lovely! Not junk food, but we will enjoy all the same! xoxo
