ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
It’s National Red Rose Day which is a time to appreciate and enjoy America’s favorite flower…the red rose.
A red rose signifies love and June is the perfect time for them as this is by far the most popular month for weddings. Roses are in bloom right now in gardens all across the U.S.
In addition to being the most popular cut flower, roses are also the most popular flower in flower beds and around the foundation of houses, garages and sheds. They are easy to grow and produce a bounty of sweet scented flowers from June up to the first frost.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
It is the month of June, the month of leaves and roses, when pleasant sights salute the eyes and pleasant scents the noses.
Nathaniel Parker Willis
I do love roses but don’t have any here as they are a flower that loves sunshine. And what I have here is mostly shade. It’s been difficult growing a lot of things I used to have not only because of the lack of sunshine, but also because the critters around here keep digging up my plants. I’ve had to replant the flowers I have planted in my flower boxes several times. It’s a
wonder anything is still growing. I even had to move the herbs inside on the sunporch.
I had thought I’d buy more flowers when they went on sale this year, but with chances being slim that they’ll survive, I decided on settling with what little I have.
The only roses I have here are in the pictures today and they are artificial. However, I have noticed them blooming everywhere and one of my near neighbors has some right outside my front room window that I can enjoy.
I haven’t shared many recipes lately because I’ve not been inspired by many new ideas, but dining at DS#5’s house last week I did learn something new.
They had Tacos for dinner along with rice and green beans, which are always a favorite, but the something new was using Salsa on the tacos instead of tomatoes. Something I’d never had, but it worked ! This is one tip I won’t soon forget. If you don’t have tomatoes, use salsa. That’s the great thing about being with people, someone else always seems to come up with new ideas.
The picture below shows my latest work in progress. One I hope to finish this week.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Some people grumble that roses have thorns; I am grateful that thorns have roses.
Alphonse Karr
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
6062. for beautiful red roses
6063. for new ideas that work
6064. for works in progress, never ending
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

DS#3 says that at Aldi they have diced tomoatoes and green chiles in a can. A bit spicy but it is good too.
Don't forget to stop and smell the roses today !
I like your art project you are working in! Appropriate for the 4th of July coming by so very soon!
I like the idea of salsa to substitute for tomatoes for tacos or burritos. I get tired of tomatoes after a bit, but salsa is always yummy!
Our neighbors across the street have some rose bushes, but they are on the side of the house so I don't get to see them too often :)
betty
Unlike Tom, I'm not crazy about roses … but the previous owners left pink and white rosebushes near the back fence. There's so much left to be done in the yard, but I'm toying the idea of taking the bed's wrought-iron footboard and using it as a trellis.
Speaking of tacos! If you'd like I'll try and find the brand, but last month Tom brought home a jar of guacamole salsa. Really good!
We used to have a rose garden here with over 100 different varieties of roses. Then the trees in the neighbors yard grew so big and shaded the garden too much so the roses had to go. My favorite thing to grow in the shade are hostas and tuberous begonias. Love your art project. Hope to see it when you finish it. We have both tomatoes and salsa on our tacos. I never thought to substitute but I will now.
