ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Daniel Boone Day which is a day to honor one of the great explorers of our country. He is a famous US frontiersman and the first American to discover present day Kentucky. He also created a path to open up the frontier for future settlers.
In 1769 Boone led an expedition through the Cumberland Gap, which he later transformed into the Wilderness Road, to provide others access to the western frontier.
Today, Daniel Boone is still a symbol of the Western pioneering spirit.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
In wisdom gathered over time, I have found that every experience is a form of exploration.
Ansel Adams
I think it is important to remember the brave men like Daniel Boone and other explorers who faced the unknown. It was their courage and initiative that created our great country.
Most of us can’t relate to what they faced, but in some small way we are explorers in our own right just by learning new things every day. We need to explore the possibilities in life. Believe me when I say life is an adventure towards the unknown future. We never know what a new day may bring our way.
Adventure is an attitude that we must apply to the day to day obstacles of life—facing new challenges, seizing new opportunities, testing our resources against the unknown and in the process, discover our own unique potential.
Jahn Amatt
After an unseasonably cool Wednesday, we are to see the return of summer like weather today. I was very tempted yesterday morning to turn the heat on, but I refrained and just put on an extra layer of clothing. By the end of the day today, we may want the air conditioning on. It’s hard to adjust to these rapidly changing temps. But compared to what others have been experiencing with volcanos erupting, and flooding and landslides too, our weather change is a minor thing and one I can easily put up with.
When I want to complain, it’s always important to remember the blessings we have and be thankful for what we have. It could be much worse.

The pictures today are of one of the road trips I went with my middle sister as we attempted to explore the highways and by ways of Ohio a few years ago. This trip went to one of the more eastern parts of our state. Just thinking about what it took to make those roads we enjoyed traveling on makes one very thankful indeed.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Because our gifts carry us out into the world and make us participants of life, the uncovering of them is the most important task confronting any one of us.
Elizabeth O'Connor
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
6047. for the wonderful possibilities in each new day
6048. for explorers who paved the way
6049. for a great visit with my youngest sister and BIL, who stopped by this week

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their

Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

It was good we had the explorers that our country had in its early years; so much of the country wouldn't have been explored and made into the United States except for those brave explorers going out and discovering things. Glad people are adventurous to do things like this!

I cannot imagine what it was like to live in the days of Daniel Boone. We are so spoiled today! Loved your photos of your road trip.
What a debt we owe Daniel Boone and his contemporaries! Super heroes even!
While Hollywood has somewhat romanticized the early explorers, I like that they've given faces and emotions to what's taught in school.
