ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Log Cabin Day which brings us back to a quieter, simpler, more rugged era. A couple hundred years ago, life was far more rugged. Americans moving West found an untouched wilderness filled with pristine forests. They built their homes out of logs. These log cabins were solid, long lasting and served them well.
Life was rustic and simple. Heat was provided by an open fireplace, where they also cooked their meals. There was no electricity, and no plumbing.
Log Cabin Day celebrate what was then the modern home in America and the lifestyle that accompanied it. Today is a day to appreciate the history and significance of log cabins.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
If you think you have it tough, read the history books.
Bill Maher
I do love history and think it’s good to reflect back on simpler times. While they had no modern conveniences, I think they were happy with what they had. They knew the value of hard work and appreciated what they had.
For lack of log cabin pictures today I’m sharing some pictures sent to me by DDIL#6 because she knows how much I love to see what they are doing. When you don’t see someone for awhile, pictures do help keep us in touch. They were at Scout Camp this past week.
Here we are at the start of another brand new week and it’ ll be exciting to see what each new day will bring my way. I don’t have much of any plans to do anything special, but I never know just what may come my way. They say it’s going to be much warmer than last week, so a lot of what I do may be inside. There is always plenty to do, so no doubt it will be a busy one for me.
It’s the last full week of June and summer is making it’s statement. I’ve been enjoying the longer days to the fullest. It’s been nice to have more daylight hours. We’re to have a reprieve from all the rain of the weekend for a couple of days too.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Home, the spot of earth supremely blest. A dear, sweeter spot than all the rest.
Robert Montgomery
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
6101. for longer daylight hours
6102. for summer warmth
6103. for pictures that keep me in touch with family
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Happy Monday!
Looks like DDS#6 and family had a good time at Scout camp! I'm not sure I would have enjoyed the log cabin life myself, LOL :) I do like all the modern conveniences we have, but I do think life indeed was simpler then.

Sometimes I envy the log-cabin lifestyle. Sure, life was tough ….. but one doesn't miss what they've never had, right? I venture to guess, families were more close-knit and took great pleasure in the simple things.
I think we all tend to romantize the log cabin days a bit in our minds, but I think most of us are far too soft to be able to cope with what they did! They had hard, hard lives. Love your family pics. I am so grateful for a couple of my children that share photos with me regularly! It means a lot! xoxo
