It is also International Picnic Day which celebrates one of the greatest ways to enjoy the summer season.  Its the perfect time of year to go outdoors and have a picnic. 

Picnics commonly include a meal, snacks and outdoor games.  Picnic foods often include hamburgers, hot dogs, macaroni and potato salads and baked beans.

These June birthdays are the only ones for our family this month.  DD and DS#3 were born just one year apart and it was like raising twins having two that close in age for me.  I won’t be able to see either one of them today, but as usual a card went out in the mail with love and best of wishes for a very Happy Birthday.

Our family has always enjoyed picnics and they are a lot of fun !  There are lots of parks in our area and over the years we have visited a lot of them.   So for Christmas this past year I painted an antique picnic basket for each family and that is what the pictures are of today with the exception of the one of DD and DS#3 at the top.  

I thought that they would appreciate them as we have had so many happy memories of picnics over the years.  

Everyone loves macaroni salad and so I’m sharing a recipe for a slightly different kind today.  I made this for one of our family get togethers and everyone seemed enjoy it.

I adapted the recipe for a crowd and used more macaroni and mayo.  I like to try out something different now and then.

With today being hot and humid here, I think I’ll make a batch for just me today.  This kind of salad makes a meal for me.

as they discharge their duties
