ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Compliment Day which is celebrated by offering sincere compliments to people you know. It is important that you are sincere. People will see right through insincerity, and you will do more harm than good.
Compliments are free, easy to give and receive, they make people happy and build trust.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I can live for two months on a good compliment.
Mark Twain
We all have the power to brighten someone’s day by simply giving them a compliment. Compliments are very powerful. A singles sentence has the ability to change a person’s entire mood, an entire day and even their life. They make people feel valued and important. You never know what battles someone else is facing and even the smallest of compliments can make them feel better
The best compliment I ever received was when someone told me how great my children are. It made me feel really good to know that maybe I did a good job in raising them. They are truly my greatest accomplishment.
Just incase you haven’t had a compliment in a while, I want you all to know how much you are appreciated! You are very special to me! It’s a great thing to have friends and family that care enough to read this post every day.
It’s mid week and for me it’s time to evaluate what I’ve got done so far and just how much I would like to have done by the end of the week. So far, cleaning and laundry are done and today I head back in to the spare bedroom/craft nook to get more done.
Tomorrow I’ll be going out for a hair cut and a little shopping and by Friday I’m hoping things will be looking pretty good here.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Peanut Butter Day! The average person consumes more than six pounds of peanut products each year, making peanut butter a very popular household food.
Peanut butter was invented by George Bayle, a St. Louis snack food maker, during the 1890s. For many years, peanut butter manufacturers struggled with the oil separating from the grainy solids of the peanut butter. In 1923 Heinz became the first company to homogenize the peanuts into the spreadable butter we know and love today. After perfecting the recipe, peanut butter soon became a classic American food.
It takes 550 peanuts to make a 12 ounce jar of peanut butter. Peanuts are cholesterol free and an excellent source of protein. In fact, it’s the high protein content that causes peanut butter to stick to the roof of your mouth.
I found a recipe for peanut butter dip that sounds great. I often dip apple slices in peanut butter but this takes it to a new level.
Amish Style Peanut Butter Spread
3/4 c. firmly packed dark brown sugar
1/3 c. water
3 tbsp. pancake syrup
1 c. creamy peanut butter
1 c. marshmallow creme
1/2 tsp. maple flavoring, optional
2 tbsp. finely chopped peanuts
Unpeeled apple slices or sliced bread
Combine brown sugar, water and syrup in a small pan. Bring to boil over medium heat. Reduce hat to low and simmer 5 minutes or until sugar is completely dissolved. Pour into a medium bowl and cool completely.
Add peanut butter, marshmallow creme and maple flavoring to syrup mixture. Beat with electric mixer on medium speed until smooth.
Spoon in to a serving dish. Sprinkle with peanuts. Spread on apple slices or sliced bread.

ADVICE FOR TODAY
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.
Leo Buscaglia
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

I certainly don't say it enough, but YOU and a few other blog friends are pretty special to me, as well! I know exactly what you say about sincerity! When I read today is Compliment Day my mind flew right backwards to Leave it to Beaver's Eddie Haskell. That slimy fellow still cracks me up.
Peanut butter is one of my favorite things in the whole world. In fact, I used to travel with it. Once, at a business conference a visitor from Australia exclaimed, "Oh, you have peanut paste! May I have some, too?" My former hubby and I chucked over 'peanut paste' for years.
I love your little Brown Bird Pam! How sweet. I love Mevely's comment about Eddie Haskell also, Boy does that lad ever know how to veil an insult in a compliment! haha! That show never gets old. I adore Peanut Butter and would not be without my big jar of Skippy. It is a "Must have" in my kitchen. Having blogged for about 18 years now in one way or another, I have built up some very close friendships with several fellow bloggers. It has always amazed me how close you can feel with people you have never met. I have always prescribed to the words of Thumper's mother in Bambi, if you can't say something nice, then don't say nothing at all! Hope you have a beautiful Thursday. Thanks so much for being a positive light in the blogosphere! xoxo
