ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is National Handwriting Day which is an opportunity to reintroduce yourself to a pen or pencil and a piece of paper. In this day of computers more and more information, notes and letters are sent back and forth vial a keyboard and cyberspace.
This unofficial holiday is sponsored by the Writing Instrument Manufacturers Association and commemorates the birth anniversary of John Hancock, the first person to sign the American Declaration of Independence.
Your handwriting is unique and it is personal, it is yours and yours alone.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Writing is thinking on paper.
William Zinsser
There is no doubt about it, I don’t hand write anything much at all these days. Most is done on my keyboard. Once upon a time handwriting was considered an art. It mattered if you could write beautifully, legibly and distinctly, because it was how we communicated.
I do keep a hand written daily journal of sorts that sits on my desk to jot down things I don’t want to forget. I also keep one in my purse in case I think of something I need to remember when I’m out and about.
After a Spring like day on Monday, with temps in the 50’s, we’re to get colder today. We knew that the warm weather wouldn’t last but it surely did feel good.
Winter still has a long way to go before it is over. February and March often bring some big snow storms our way.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Pie Day. Pies have a have a long illustrious history but the sweet filled treats we enjoy today are a relatively recent innovation. People filled pastry shells with different kinds of meat or seafood and flavored them with a variety of spices.
When the Pilgrims made their voyage to the New World in the late 1600’s they brought English pie recipes for beef, lamb, duck or pigeon. It wasn’t until the late 1800’s that first sweet pies emerged. Thees featured the ingredients we’re accustomed to today and by the 1940’s pie had become the iconic American dessert.
Surveys say that Apple Pie rules as number one but there is a lot of variety to choose from.
Easy Classic Apple Pie
Made with refrigerated crusts this pie recipe is a breeze to prepare.
6 cups thinly sliced peeled apples
3/4 cup sugar
2 Tbsp. Minute Tapioca
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 package ready to use pie crusts
1 Tbsp. butter, cut up
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Toss apples with sugar tapioca and spices. Let stand 15 minutes
Line 9 inch pie plate with one of the crusts, fill with fruit mixture. Dot with butter. Cover with remaining crust. Seal and flute edge. Cut several slits in top curst to permit steam to escape.
Bake 45 to 50 minutes until juice begins to bubble through slits in crust. Cool before serving.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything beautiful, for beauty is God's handwriting.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5647. for lots of paper and pens to write with
5648. for pie, apple is a favorite
5649. for each new day, no matter the weather
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
The act of putting pen to paper encourages pause for thought, this in turn makes us think more deeply about life, which helps us regain our equilibrium.
Norbet Platt
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

Your daily journal reminds me of Rick's post the other day! Yes, I remember when one's handwriting was considered an art ... and when a teacher gave me an awful grade in penmanship because my arm was in a plaster cast. I don't recall the details, but my parents were so cross with her!
My handwriting has become appalling Pam. I think I was in grade five when my teacher told my mother she refused to grade my work any longer because I had such bad writing. My mother went and bought exercise books for the McLean method of penmanship and I was made to sit for what seemed like hours every day perfecting my hand writing. It was quite nice for a while, but with all the typing I do now, has really degraded. I keep trying to work on it, and do well for a while, but then I slip once more. I love a day dedicated to pie! My family are all pie afficionados! If it is in a crust, we are in love! xoxo
