ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is National Kazoo Day which celebrates the joy of this musical instrument. Alabama Vest and Thaddeus Von Clegg invented the kazoo in the 1840s. They presented the new instrument at the 1852 Georgia State Fair and it soon became a staple in the popular music of the era.
While today we often consider the kazoo a child’s toy, it is indeed designed to be an instrument. Kazoos are easy to play. Simply hum a tune into the large end of the kazoo, and you're an expert.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.
Berthold Auerbach
Kazoos are fun to play and over the years, I’ve had the chance to do my fair share of it. I may not be much of a musician, but I do love music. Today’s pictures are of our family get together at Christmas which are the only recent musical pictures I happen to have. DS #6 was our host and he had old time band instruments for us to play and have fun taking pictures with. We also had kazoos to play too.
It’s to be a pretty normal Sunday here as I’ll be off to church and then home to enjoy a day of rest. It’s always good for us to take the take time to relax so we’re ready for the work week ahead. I don’t go to work anymore but have plenty to do here at home and when I’m rested up I can do a better job of it.
Truth is these days I probably rest more than I work, but I figure just being able to do what needs be done is a blessing.
Remember a Sunday well spent means a week of content.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Blueberry Pancake Day which are a wonderful treat to enjoy anytime of the day. They are nutritious enough to eat for breakfast, tasty enough for a midday snack, and easy enough to make for dinner.
To make blueberry pancakes, mix up a batch of your favorite plain pancake batter. Wash the blueberries, pat them dry, and keep them in a separate bowl. Once you've poured the batter onto the griddle, drop a few blueberries on top. This will ensure that your blueberries aren’t bruised during the cooking process and will be perfect bursts of flavor when you bite into your pancake.
Blueberries are sweet, nutritious and wildly popular. Often labelled a superfood, they are low in calories and incredibly good for you
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.
Victor Hugo
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5662. for music, kazoos are fun
5663. for blueberries, good and good for you
5664. for a day of rest
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

I remember your Christmas post! It was fun to see these photos again. Your family is so clever! We have a family reunion with our cousins every fall and I wish I could think of a clever theme like your family did.
We are resting today and will be going home tomorrow. I’m going to miss this country life.
Your DS#6's theme was SO clever! He sure set the bar pretty high for whoever follows. :)
Blueberry pancakes contain some magical powers, indeed. Back when my DH was diagnosed with the lung cancer he fell into a deep depression and practically refused to eat. Then one day, he mentioned pancakes "might be OK" and it was like the tide turned!
