ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Bubble Bath Day! People have been enjoying warm baths for thousands of years. In Ancient Rome, bathing at a public facility was part of the daily routine for most citizens.
Up until the late 1940s, the average American bathed once a week for personal hygiene. Today, a daily shower is standard, but it’s important to indulge in a luxurious soak every once in awhile. A bubble bath can help open up your pores, cleanse your skin, and relax muscles.
Pick up a bottle of your favorite bubble bath product and fill your tub tonight to celebrate Bubble Bath Day! Create a calming spa atmosphere with background music, candles, and a towel to cushion your neck. Enjoy!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
January has only one thing to be said for it: it is followed by February. Nothing so well becomes its passing.
Katherine Tynan
Bubble baths are relaxing and do a great job of warming one up on a cold day. I’ve never gone as far as to light candles and play music, but I have enjoyed many a long soak in a hot bath.
It was definitely warmer here yesterday and will be warmer today. Although it didn’t get above freezing, it was apparently enough to thaw the water pipes I was having trouble with. I had no idea this would be such a problem but then we have never had such an extended period of cold before. I’ve kept my house warmer than usual hoping to alleviate any problems, but still I had them.
I’m not looking forward to the snow predicted for today, but it is warming up and supposed to change over to rain later on. That is a cheering thought. Our schools are closed once again due to icy road conditions.
In the news, they say hospitals are now limiting visitors here as the flu is really going around. DD and her family had it last week, but so far it hasn’t hit my home. They did have flu shots, as did I, but apparently it didn’t cover what they got.
On the bright side the temps are rising and we are back to more normal winter weather. Don’t be fooled by the sunny skies in the pictures today, it was about 5 below 0 outside when I took them.
There seems to be so much more winter than we need this year.

I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!
PRAYER REQUEST
DDIL#5 has requested prayers for her aunt who has been hospitalized with pneumonia. May the dear Lord bless her aunt with healing and a quick recovery. We pray all things in Jesus name. Amen
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National English Toffee Day
I found this recipe for toffee to share and it looks easy enough to make. Although I’ve not ever made toffee, I do love it.
English Toffee
1 cup sugar
1 cup Butter
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup finely chopped pecans
Line 15 by 10 by 1 inch baking pan with waxed paper.
Combine sugar and butter in 2 quart saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, 25 to 30 minutes or until candy thermometer reaches 300 degrees or small amount of mixture dropped into ice water forms brittle strands.
Quickly spread into prepared pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips over hot candy; let stand 5 minutes. Spread melted chocolate evenly over candy; sprinkle with nuts. Cool completely; break into pieces.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
No Winter lasts forever, no Spring skips its turn. April is a promise that May is bound to keep, and we know it.
Hal Borland
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5602. for a warm home
5603. for plenty of bubbles to add to my bath
5604. for candy, especially when it includes chocolate
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

ADVICE FOR TODAY
If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.
Anne Bradstreet
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

Yes MA, I too am thankful for a warm home and a warm workplace. And right at this moment, I'm thankful for apples and peanut butter. Yummy!
And I hope you don't mind, MA, but I've mentioned you in my blog today. I so appreciate your posts and your positivity. Thanks.
Praying for your daughter-in-law's aunt, honey. My dear aunt (turned 86 on New Year's Day) has the same thing and I'm worried about her. :-( And yes, the hospitals are limiting and screening visitors here too. The sickness going around is awful. Blessings on your day~ Andrea xoxo
I LOVE that Sandy aka Doris the great, quoted you in her blog!! She is a great gal, just like YOU!
By the way, you wondered about my photo...I thought you meant my "watery" photo but now, I am thinking you might mean my header photo...it is a photo from the church at the Monastery here in Conyers, Georgia! If you would like to see their website it is : Trappist.net
I don't think I've had a bubble bath since I was a kid!
Of course, I'm happy to add DDIL's aunt to my prayers. This bug/crud/whatever is scary! I, too, had the flu shot but this snuck right through.
Pam, your positivity is a light to many. I have often thought if more people had your frame of mind, this world would be a changed place! I will pray for your DIL's Aunt. I know how scary pneumonia is in the elderly. If my mother were to get it, it would do her in she just doesn't have the strength or stamina to fight it now. I hope you manage to stay well despite the cold temps and weather. We no longer have a bathtub, just a shower and I miss it. I used to always enjoy a long hot soak with a book, but never bubbles, although my children loved and often had bubble baths! Thanks so much for all that you share. You bring a smile to the table each day. Love and hugs. xoxo
