Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is International Mother Language Day! This annual celebration honors language diversity and variety across the globe. It also observes the human right to use native language. Celebrate today with acceptance of all languages. Better yet, begin to learn a new one!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
When the eyes say one thing, and the tongue another, a practiced man relies on the language of the first.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
The only language I know is English. I often wished I knew another language and feel quite inadequate at times. Some people are able to speak 5 or 6 languages and can feel at home just about any place they go.
One thing I’ve noticed, maybe two, is that young people seem to speak a language all their own and no matter what, a smile can say a lot.
Language is powerful and the words we use are important. They can lift someone up or break them down. Use your words wisely.
I hope you all have aTERRIFIC Tuesday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It's National Sticky Bun Day!
I found this quick and easy recipe which makes it simple to make your own.
PECAN STICKY BUNS
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. chopped pecans
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 c. melted butter
1 large can buttered grand biscuits
In bowl, combine sugar, pecans, cinnamon and melted butter. Cut biscuits in quarters. In Bundt pan, layer pecan mixture, biscuits and so forth until completed.
Bake in oven at 350 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes. When done, let cool for 5 minutes then turn onto plate.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The most important word in the English language is hope.
Eleanor Roosevelt
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4678. for the ability to speak and read one language, not every one can
4679. for pecans, good and good for you
4680. for smiles, they make me happy
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Kindness is a language the dumb can speak and the deaf can hear and understand.
Christian Nevell Bovee
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

I too wish I spoke another language. My mom spoke Polish, but she didn't teach it to us. They say its never to late to learn, but I'm not sure how well I would take to another language at this stage of my life.
betty
I, too, wish I'd applied myself in school and learned a second language. Given Arizona's huge Hispanic population, when I first moved here it was a challenge finding work that didn't require me to be bi-lingual.
The only thing I grow annoyed about are those who CAN speak/understand English but don't ... particularly here in the workplace among their cronies. Makes my boss SO mad.
