39 DAYS UNTIL SPRING
Sunrise: 7:30 am
Sunset: 5:55 pm
Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Kite Flying Day, a great time to go fly a kite. People have enjoyed flying kites for thousands of years. Its an ever popular activity for children, and enjoyed by many adults.
Ben Franklin was perhaps the most well known kite flyer. He flew a kite in a thunderstorm and discovered electricity. He got a charge out of flying kites!
It’s amazing that Kite Flying Day is held in the middle of winter. Chances are few people in the northern areas of the country will brave the snow and cold today to go outdoors and fly a kite.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Waiting for the fish to bite or waiting for wind to fly a kite. Or waiting around for Friday night or waiting perhaps for their Uncle Jake or a pot to boil or a better break or a string of pearls or a pair of pants or a wig with curls or another chance. Everyone is just waiting.
Dr. Seuss
Earlier this week we would have had a perfect kite flying day with warm air, sunshine and a nice breeze but after that came lots of rain and now it’s much colder and we had snow too.
It seems everyone is just waiting…especially here these days. A lot of waiting to see what happens next, because that will determine what I will do next. But just because I have to wait, doesn’t mean that I have nothing to do. It continues to be busy days here. I want to be ready to move when I get the chance.
They say we should live for today, for tomorrow is promised to no one…so today I’m going give it the best of what I have and enjoy every moment.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Pizza Day. The vast majority of people, in America and around the world, love pizza and eat it on a regular basis. It is very versatile, with a huge assortment of things you can put on it, including meats, vegetables and fruits. With all this variety, there is is a pizza for just about everybody.
Pizza is eaten for breakfast, lunch, dinner and as a late night snack. It is a very popular food for parties and events.
I remember when my children would grab a slice of leftover pizza for breakfast, but the thoughts of having one for myself just didn’t appeal to me. There are plenty of recipes out there for a true breakfast pizza and that is what I’m sharing with you all today.
Sausage Breakfast Pizza
1 lb. Pork or Turkey Sausage
1/2 cup chopped red bell pepper
3 eggs
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 can refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
1 cup frozen hash brown potatoes, thawed
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
2 green onions, thinly sliced
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cook sausage and bell pepper in large skillet over medium high heat 8 to 10 minutes or until sausage is thoroughly cooked, stirring frequently. Remove from skillet; drain.
Beat eggs, salt and black pepper in small bowl with wire whisk until well blended. Add to skillet; cook 2 to 3 minutes or just until set, stirring occasionally.
Separate crescent dough into 8 triangles; press onto bottom and up side of 12 inch pizza pan to form crust, firmly pressing seams together to seal. Top with sausage mixture, potatoes, eggs and cheeses.
Bake 10 to 15 minutes or until crust is golden brown. Sprinkle with onions. Cut into 8 wedges to serve.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
I still find each day too short for all the thoughts I want to think, all the walks I want to take, all the books I want to read and all the friends I want to see.
John Burroughs
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4642. for kites that are fun
4643. for each day as it comes
4644. for pizza, good any time of day
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
A certain amount of opposition is a great help to a man. Kites rise against, not with, the wind.
John Neal
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

How fun with National Pizza Day and Go Fly a Kite Day. Its nice weather here to fly a kite, but not too much wind. It is hard to wait for something while we are anxious to move on, but like you are doing, it is good to stay busy.
betty
I think sometimes we should sell and move to a smaller place so much work to keep up these yards, and I'm not getting any younger, but would I be happy not sure since we have lived here most of our married life. Happy or not it may have to happen one day. I hope you sell soon and move to your smaller place. I think it’s windy enough here this morning to fly a kite. Lol.
It's too cold here today to fly a kite. Only 39* but the weatherman says Saturday will be windy and 80* Can you believe that? 80* in February in Kansas. What the heck?? I didn't know today was Pizza Day. I am going to change my menu and we will eat Pizza for supper tonight before Harley goes to work! Yippee!!
Ha! Tom just returned from picking up a yummy pizza pie. :)
We've not had much wind to speak of, but the days are growing warmer (84-degrees today) and I think it would be cute to see children out running, trying to catch a breeze. (Never had a BIT of luck doing it myself, way back when.)
