THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.
Proverbs 4:23
Guard it. Do not overburden it.
Our hearts guide and direct all that we do. Every word that comes out of our mouth starts in the heart. All of our actions and choices are driven by the desires of of our hearts. Guarding our heart means that we are in control of our thoughts and what we allow or minds to dwell on. It’s our thoughts and actions which dictate and influence what we feel and the things we do.
The weather roller coaster continues. Starting today we’re to warm up a little each day here until next Tuesday, when we’ll be close to 50 degrees. After that we’ll go down again but all in all it’s not looking bad at all here. It’s a mild winter for us so far.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s Homemade Soup Day!
Here’s a quick and easy recipe to make your own:
32 oz Chicken Broth
4 c water
3 cups bite size chicken, cooked
2 t seasoning
1/2 of a 12 oz. bag egg noodles
2 c frozen vegetables
Salt and pepper
In large stock pot, add broth, water, chicken, and seasonings. Bring to a boil.
Add egg noodles and continue boiling to cook noodles as directed on package. Soup is ready to serve when noodles are done. Season with salt and pepper to taste, or allow your guests to season their own.
Set this on the table with a loaf of dark bread and you have a meal worthy of being part of the celebration for Homemade Soup Day!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.
Thornton Wilder
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4630. for hearts that are true
4631. for soup, that warms the body
4632. for a mild winter
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Very simple but delicious soup recipe you shared here, Ma. I think I am going to make it in the next week after I throw some chicken in the crock pot. We like to cook about 5 pounds of chicken breasts in the crock pot every so often and then use the meat in a variety of ways, salads, burritos, in recipes that call for cooked chicken, etc. Next time we do this I'll save out 3 cups of chicken and make this recipe. It sounds yummy! Glad to hear so far it has been a mild winter and the end is in sight with spring just around the corner :)
betty
Ditto on the yummy-sounding soup recipe ... comforting for the taste buds methinks.
The weatherman says we're going to be in the mid-80's in a few days. I'm probably the only soul in the city who's a bit depressed by that news. LOL!
