49 DAYS UNTIL WINTER

Life is a Special Occasion!

Welcome November!
The month of November is Aviation History Month, Child Safety Protection Month, International Drum Month, National Adoption Awareness Month, National Caregivers Appreciation Month, National Diabetes Awareness Month, National Epilepsy Month, National Model Railroad Month, National Novel Writing Month, Native American Heritage Month, Peanut Butter Lovers Month, Real Jewelry Month, and National Sleep Comfort Month. And for me it is THANKFUL month.
Today is Going the Extra Mile Day which promotes action and a positive attitude. Going the extra mile improves the results we find in life, both professionally and personally…it allows us to make a difference in our community and in our world
It’s a day to do more than normal, no matter what the area. In short, it is a time to extend ourselves in attitude and efforts, a time to find ways to make advances in various areas of our lives. This is the right time to examine our lives and ask ourselves if this is what we want them to be.
It’s time look in the mirror and ask ourselves what can we do differently to make our life better or help our community.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra.
Jimmy Johnson
November will be a very busy month here at my house. There are several birthdays to celebrate and there will be a little trip coming my way. This coming Sunday, November 6th, daylight savings time will end and we’ll be turning the clocks back one hour on Saturday night before we go to bed. November 8th we’ll be voting for the next President of the United States. We’ll also have our Family celebrations for Thanksgiving both near and far.
And of course in between celebrating, I’ll still be sorting out the clutter. I wonder if I’ll ever get done.
The expression 'going the extra mile’ is for someone willing to serve beyond the expected norm. We can all do our part to make a difference in others lives every day of the year. Sometimes just a little hug or a smile or a pat on the back can make all the difference to someone’s world.
When people do more than they have to, and do so with an attitude of generosity, they give of themselves in ways that lift all of humanity. The heart grows tender when we extend ourselves beyond what’s expected. Going the extra mile is a vital ingredient that lifts our mood, allowing hopefulness to rule.
Remember: Gifts of love are not always packaged and saved for special days, they are often given in the moment.
Sharing joys means multiplying them. And when you allow God’s love to fill your heart it doesn’t burst, but keeps growing bigger and bigger for all eternity.
Today is also All Saints Day which is a Christian holiday in honor of those folks that definitely went the extra mile and we celebrate the good that did in the service of our Lord.
We are all saints in the making and we can all make a difference for the better.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Deep Fried Clams Day
Shucked clams, some flour, eggs, and milk, and plenty of hot cooking oil are the basic ingredients for celebrating National Deep Fried Clams Day. It has been said that deep fried clams are to New England what barbecue is to the South. But like BBQ, deep fried clams have gone national and have their own Food Holiday to prove it!
I have never made my own fried clams but we used to have a restaurant here that made the best I’ve ever tasted. Their fried clam plate with fries and coleslaw was a favorite of mine and I’d order that most every time I went there. Sorry to say it closed up after many years and the building sits empty. I found this easy recipe to make my own, but have yet tried it out.
FRIED CLAMS
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
Pepper to taste
2/3 c. milk
2 eggs
1 qt. clams
Beat eggs and milk together, add sifted dry ingredients. Beat until smooth. Add clams, either whole or cut into pieces. Fry in deep fat until a golden brown
COUNTING MY GIFTS
You can start right where you stand and apply the habit of going the extra mile by rendering more service and better service than you are now being paid for.
Napoleon Hill
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4369. for those that go the extra mile and make our lives a little brighter
4370. for smiles and hugs, always good medicine
4371. for deep fried clams, delicious
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

You will get it all done, Ma. It sounds like you have done a lot already. Good to have things to look forward to like your upcoming trip. I am glad we don't change the time here. I already don't like it getting dark before 6 o'clock.
Betty
We will be changing time here too! Harley will like going to school in sunlight. But that early darkness will take some adjustment. We have to adjust every year!! I am going that extra mile today and reminding all my loved ones that I love them. Thank you for this. My husband used to love getting fried clams!!
