Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today Housewife Day which recognizes the importance of stay at home wives and moms. These wonderful, caring people, build and enrich strong family environments. They help to instill family values and good character.
Housewife is an old term. It hails back to the days when one income could support the family in a manner of comfort. Women views of working or staying at home, fall on both sides of the fence. The decision to be a housewife, or stay at home mom, is still preferred by many. Unfortunately, income needs often necessitate going to work.
Today, we celebrate and thank all of the ladies who choose to stay home and tend to the house and family!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
By and large, mothers and housewives are the only workers who do not have regular time off. They are the great vacationless class.
Anne Morrow Lindbergh
I’m thankful that for a number of years I was able to stay and home with my family and keep house for them. But things changed and I did find it necessary to go back to work. It was not easy at all with a large family, but my children all pitched in to make the load a little lighter. At the time the oldest was 12 and the youngest was four and every one had a job to do and that really helped out.
I was a stay at home mom, and a working mom. Now I’m home but there’s no family to keep house for. My job description is now RETIRED. My family are all grown and married and have homes of their own. Everything is a tumble here with all the sorting out I’ve been doing. I’m not keeping house at all it seems, but still life goes on.
I really congratulate working moms for what they do too. Some like having a career out side of home and some find it a necessity. Having a family and a job takes a lot of work no matter what the reason.
Today we’re going back to more normal weather with temps dropping back into the 50’s.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
Today is Sandwich Day.
The sandwich is truly a great creation. Sandwiches are a daily luncheon staple for millions of Americans. For me they are often breakfast, lunch and dinner because they are so easy to make.
Easy Hot Ham Sandwich for Dinner
serves 6
1 loaf unsliced round bread
1/4 cup Real Mayonnaise
8 ounces sliced deli ham or turkey breast
4 ounces sliced American cheese
1 large tomato, sliced
2 Tbsp. balsamic italian vinaigrette dressing
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cut bread in half horizontally; hollow out center of each half, leaving 1/4 inch shell. Spread Real Mayonnaise onto bottom half. Layer ham, cheese and tomato. Drizzle with dressing; replace top shell.
Wrap in aluminum foil and bake 25 minutes or until heated through. To serve, cut into wedges.
COUNTING MY GIFTS

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
There's ups and downs of any job. If you worked at the post office, there's ups and downs. You have your good days, and you have your bad days. If you're a housewife, you have your good days, and you have your bad days.
Tracy Morgan
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

That ham sandwich looks good. I am grateful for the time I got to stay at home with the kids and then being able to work at home. It is hard these days to be able to make it on one income for most families.

I love the term housewife!! It is such a disrespected job now days!! I know ladies who would love to stay home and care for their husbands and kids but are ridiculed because of it!! Too bad. I'm retired too!!
