42 DAYS UNTIL WINTER
Sunrise: 7:08 am
Sunset: 5:14 pm
Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Election Day! Once every four years, we get the opportunity to elect a new president. Every six years, we elect our U.S. senators. U.S. congressman are elected every two years. This allows us to retain good elected officials, and overturn those whose performance is poor, or whose beliefs do not match the majority. While Democracy may not be perfect, it's better than any other type of government on the planet. And, it offers us freedoms and safeguards that do not exist in many other countries.
Our founding fathers had the wisdom to create a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. It is every American's right and privilege, to vote for our government officials. So, it is hoped you exercise your right on this day, to vote for the candidate of your choice.
Please exercise your inalienable right and go out and vote!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost.
John Quincy Adams
I will be voting today and thankfully I can walk to where I vote. It’s just a couple of blocks away. I’m thinking the parking may be limited. Quite a few people have already done early voting so it may not be as busy as I think, but I’ll be prepared.
Voting is one privilege I like to take advantage of. It remains to be seen what will happen in this election but I’ll be glad when it’s over. No matter who wins it is good to remember that God is still in control!
We’re to have a cool, cloudy day here with showers moving in later so I hope to get out, vote and be back home before the rain comes in.
On the bright side, it’ll be good to get back to normal after this election.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s Cook Something Bold and Pungent Day which is intended to celebrate the use of herbs such as garlic and hot pepper to promote health and longevity.
With the holiday season about to begin I’m sharing a favorite recipe of mine that is always on the menu this time of year.
Chex Party Mix
3 cups Corn Chex
3 cups Wheat Chex
3 cups Rice Chex
2 cups Pretzel Sticks
2 cups Mixed Nuts
1 1/2 Sticks Butter
3 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
6 dashesTabasco Sauce, optional
3 cloves Garlic, Mashed
1 teaspoon Lawry's Seasoned Salt
1/4 teaspoon Onion Powder
Dump cereal into a large mixing bowl. Add in pretzel sticks and nuts.
In a microwave safe bowl, add remaining ingredients and microwave until butter is melted. Stir together and toss into a cereal mixture, stirring as you go.
Transfer mix onto one or two baking sheets, and bake in a 250 degree oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes. Let cool and store in an airtight container.
Delicious!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The Queen of England is Defender of the Faith but the President of the United States is Defender of the Constitution, which defends all faiths.
Walter Mondale
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4390. for the freedom and right to vote
4391. for garlic, a must at my house
4392. for a short walk, it does the body good
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

We are going to vote this afternoon. After the lunch rush. I think it is important to vote and then accept whoever wins. That is hard to do sometimes. But we have to learn to come together for whatever the good of ALL the people is. I love Chex Mix!
Your recipe sounds like it will be so good I'm planning on fixing it for snacks for my company. Glad the weather was nice getting out voting. Now waiting to see who will be our next president.
