35 DAYS UNTIL WINTER
Sunrise: 7:17 am
Sunset: 5:08 pm
Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is America Recycles Day which encourages us to recycle, and use products made from recycled material. Recycling is not difficult. It sends less material to the waste stream, and it results in consuming less of our precious and limited natural resources.
Use this special day to create awareness of the importance of recycling, and to increase recycling. The world will thank you for it. Even if you practice recycling today, there is probably more you can do. Take o look around at home, at work, or in school, to identify ways your can practice recycling. Take an active role in encouraging others to recycle, too.
The Boy Scouts of America has the right slogan for this topic: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle
President George W. Bush issued a presidential proclamation declaring November 15, 2004 as America Recycles Day.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to run your TV for three hours.
Reynolds Metal Company
I’ve certainly been doing my best to recycle lots of things here from old catalogs, books, magazines to furniture and clothing. I’ve donated a lot to Salvation Army and have made good use of my recycle bin too.
I got outside this past weekend and got the yard mowed for what I hope is the last time this year. It was really mulching leaves more than cutting the grass. They say mulching the leaves helps suppress weeds and fertilizes the lawn too. Nature does its own recycling. Now I’m pretty much done with any outside work and can concentrate on the inside.
It’s looking like another ordinary day here.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
Today is National Raisin Bran Cereal Day
A good source of dietary fiber, raisin bran cereal has been produced by a number of brands going back to 1926. In general, each box's 1,000 raisins account for the majority of the package weight!
While it's got its fair share of sugar, the one sweet breakfast food that most mothers can endorse for their kids is raisin bran. Raisins pack more nutrition than their small size might indicate. When grapes are dehydrated to produce raisins, the nutrients become more concentrated, making a handful of raisins a snack rich in B vitamins, iron and potassium. Besides nutrients, raisins are also a good source of carbohydrates for energy.
Raisin Bread Muffins
1 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
3 cups raisin bran
1 1/3 cup milk
2 eggs, well beaten
1/4 cup melted butter
1/2 cup honey
Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Pour milk over raisin bran, stir, and let stand 5 minutes. Stir in eggs, melted butter, and honey. Add dry ingredients and stir just until moistened.
Spoon batter into greased muffin pans. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in a muffin comes out clean.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Autumn repays the earth the leaves which summer lent it.
Georg Christoph Lichtenberg
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
4411. for recycling, making the world a better place
4412. for raisins, a little sunshine packed in a box
4413. for ordinary days, they are the best
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
For man, autumn is a time of harvest, of gathering together. For nature, it is a time of sowing, of scattering abroad.

We recycle a lot here too. Sometimes the recycle can is fuller than the regular trashcan.
