Today is Niagara Falls Runs Dry Day! On March 29th, 1848, ice blockages caused rivers to run dry, and reduced the flow of water to such an extent that Niagara Falls’ 3,160 tons of water per second flow came to a halt. For thirty long, silent hours, the river dried up and those who were brave enough walked across it.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I love the sounds and the power of pounding water, whether it is the waves or a waterfall.
Mike May
The pictures today are of our own local falls, not Niagara Falls. They say many years ago these falls were the sight of mills operating to provide grain for the community.
It’s been awhile since I’ve been down to see them, but these pictures were taken on a beautiful summer day and the river was quite high making for quite a water display.
The old saying that you really don’t miss something till you don’t have it is so true and I can only imagine how quiet it must have been when those falls stopped.
For Easter I had purchased a 3 lb. canned ham for myself with a purpose in mind. When the babes were young I used to make an Easter cake using the tin can from the ham for a cake pan, because it was shaped like an egg. You could also make it look like a bunny with the addition of some paper ears, some coconut and a few jelly beans too. Well it turned out my canned ham was in a plastic container. Only the lid was like a tin can. So now I’m going to try and make a molded jello salad instead.
EASTER FRUIT SALAD
1 can or 3 1/2 c. fruit cocktail
1 8 oz.pkg. cream cheese
1 sm. lemon Jello
8 lg. marshmallows
3/4 c. chopped celery
1/4 c. chopped nuts
1/2 pt. whipping cream or 2 1/3 c. Cool Whip
Drain the fruit cocktail and heat the juice with the Jello and softened cream cheese and marshmallows. Cool mixture. When it starts to set, add to fruit, celery and chopped nuts. Refrigerate until thickened, about 1/2 hour. Beat whipping cream and fold in. It's now ready to be put into your favorite mold.
We’ll see what happens. Our family gathering is this coming weekend and I wanted to take something else to the feast. I’m already promised for potato salad.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
For most of us, there is only the unattended Moment, the moment in and out of time, The distraction fit, lost in a shaft of sunlight, The wild thyme unseen, or the winter lightning Or the waterfall, or music heard so deeply That it is not heard at all, but you are the music While the music lasts.
T. S. Eliot
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
3721. for our falls, smaller than Niagara for sure
3722. for another family celebration coming our way
3723. for history, I love learning about it
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Think of your life as a waterfall; it may come crashing down at some point, it may have it's ups and downs, but in the end, it will continue to flow

A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

I bet it was very quiet when the falls weren't falling. People probably were so used to the noise they had a hard time with the quiet. I might have been a brave person who would have crossed the river at the time it was frozen like that; certainly would have been an adventure to talk about in the future.
