Today is Saint Patrick's day which is in honor of the Patron Saint of Ireland, who brought christianity to the Emerald Isles, as Ireland is known. It is truly a day of celebrating Irish history, ancestry, traditions and customs.
Happy St. Patrick Day!

I’ll be wearing my green today but that is probably about all the celebrating I’ll be doing here at my house. For many years we’ve had a big snow storm for St. Patricks Day, but not so this year. Our mild weather continues for the most part.
One of my favorite things to have for St. Patrick’s Day is Irish Soda Bread so I’m sharing the recipe for that with you all today.
Irish Soda Bread with Raisins
2 cups all purpose flour
5 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
3 tablespoons butter, softened
1 cup buttermilk
2/3 cup raisins
Preheat oven to 375°F. Spray an 8 inch cake pan with cooking oil spray.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, 4 tablespoons sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda. Add butter and mix together until coarse.
In a second bowl, add buttermilk. Gradually stir dry ingredients into milk to blend.
Mix in raisins. Shape dough into ball. Place dough onto the cake pan and flatten slightly. Do not bring dough to edges of pan. Sprinkle dough with remaining 1 tablespoon sugar.
Bake bread for 40 minutes, until brown. Use a toothpick to test for doneness. Cool bread in pan for 10 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack.
Serve warm or at room temperature with butter or margarine.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday !

You're blessed when you're content with just who you are—no more, no less. That's the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can't be bought

That soda bread does look good; haven't ever had any. Might make it sometime soon. Glad to hear that the weather is still being nice there and spring is literally days away!

Your soda bread recipe sounds fantastic Pam. I love anything with fruit in it. I hope you enjoyed your day! I am just glad to have yesterday over with myself. Loved all of your thoughts on St Patricks Day. Hoping next year I will have a much more pleasant one! Love and hugs and thanks for all that you share! xoxo
