6 DAYS UNTIL SPRING
Sunrise: 7:44 am
Sunset: 7:34 pm
Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Check Your Batteries Day. We all know that some days are silly or light hearted, but there are others which serve an important purpose. Check Your Batteries Day is definitely highly recommended because it could actually save your life.
Created to raise awareness of the importance of testing and having working batteries in household appliances like smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. These devices help to warn you of a potentially life threatening situation, giving you vital time to get yourself and your family to safety. However, it’s important they are tested. Usually you can do this by pushing a button regularly to ensure they’re working correctly. Check Your Batteries Day is a reminder to do just that.
While you’re in the routine of checking, it’s a good idea to check other household appliances, such as remote controls, toys, clocks and other electrical items. If you don’t have spare batteries on hand, consider buying some.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Watches are so named as a reminder — if you don't watch carefully what you do with your time, it will slip away from you.
Drew Sorters
Hope you all remembered to set your clocks an hour forward. There have been many Sundays in years gone by that I forgot. Now my computer clock automatically changes so at least one clock in the house is right anyway.
I always try to replace batteries here when ever the time changes. I did it in the fall and now I’ll be doing it again today. Better safe than sorry.
Little things mean a lot when it comes to safety and comfort and those little batteries can make a big difference.
Hard to believe it is the end of another week.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Time is what prevents everything from happening at once.
John Archibald Wheeler
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
3673. for an extra hour of daylight this evening
3674. for batteries and all the good they do
3675. for time, I’m grateful for another day
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you.
Carl Sandburg
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

It is a good reminder to make sure the batteries are replaced in the smoke detectors, etc. I saw on the news last night a group was going around to neighborhoods in Phoenix making sure the houses had smoke detectors and that they were working correctly. A good service project I thought!
betty
My mother used to do the same thing ... changing out her smoke detector batteries whenever the time changed.
Now, ours are hard-wired together to the electrical system; but after they all went awry in unison some months back I'll never forget someone's admonishment to replace the smoke detectors themselves every 5 years.
This post just reminded me, I need to check the batteries in our (often-overlooked) flashlights.
Yours is a good reminder!
Good TIMES for you today, my friend!
It IS a very good idea to change the batteries when the time changes. Recently, there was a fire in a home in Atlanta and people died. It was very sad to see the firefighters go to that neighborhood and pass out free smoke detectors to the other homes. (The Fire Chief said the guys take it extremely hard when they can't save those in a burning house.) God bless them all.
