Life is a Special Occasion!

Sunday, October 4th, is Woolly Bear Sunday here in Northern Ohio. The Woolly Bear Caterpillar is celebrated for its mythical association to winter forecasting. After the caterpillars' eggs hatch in Fall, folklore suggests the severity of an upcoming winter can be gauged by observing the amount of black versus orange in the caterpillars bands.
The adult Isabella Tiger Moth and the larva is called the banded woolly bear. This species is black at both ends with a band of coppery red in the middle. According to folklore, the amount of black on the woolly bear varies proportionately with the severity of the coming winter. The longer the black bands, the colder and snowier our winter will be. Perhaps the answer to this coming winter is right in our own backyard.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Weather forecast for tonight: dark.
George Carlin
I haven’t seen any Woolly Bears here at my house, so I guess I’ll have to wait and see what is predicted for the winter when I watch the news.
Some say it’ll be a mild winter and others are predicting a very snowy winter. It’s been quite a while since we had a mild one, so that would be nice. But there is very little we can do about it, except accept whatever comes our way.
After a chilly and rainy day on Saturday, today is suppose to be very nice with temps close to 70 and a little sunshine! I tried to get a picture of the wind blowing the leaves around the other day and that is what the pictures are of today. It’s hard to get them when they are blowing in the wind. They really were blowing round and round.
I hope you all have a RELAXING and restful Sunday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Whether the weather be fine,
Whether the weather be not,
Whether the weather be cold,
Whether the weather be hot,
We’ll weather the weather,
Whatever the whether,
Whether we like it or not

October is Gift in a Jar and Basket Month: If you are making some gifts in a jar or putting together gift baskets, this is the month to pull them together! Buy jars or better yet, go on a search of resale shops and find an odd assortment of jars. I love the treasures I find in resale shops! While you’re at it, look for baskets too, at a fraction of the cost!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Don’t knock the weather; nine-tenths of the people couldn’t start a conversation if it didn’t change once in a while.

A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

You're blessed when you're content with just who you are—no more, no less. That's the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can't be bought

I love this time of year! Fall is my absolute favorite season!! It's been rainy all week and weekend here. Must admit I'm ready for a little sunshine!
Lots of leaves blowing around in your neck of the woods :) They haven't started falling off here yet; but up until Friday we were still in the high 80s', cooling off some over the next few days. It is interesting how nature can predict the upcoming seasons. Mentioned before, but the locals here said with the leaves changing early, that could be a sign of a harsh winter ahead.

That's interesting about the caterpillar! I used to play with 'regular'(?) caterpillars and their friends when I was a child ... before I turned into a whuss! (*smile*)
Thanks for the tip about looking for odd jars and baskets! I've not done anything like that before, but it sounds like a unique (and most affordable!) option.
Hi Ma!
Happy Sunday. We finally are getting a cooler day. Glory!
We lost a good church friend today to cancer. We must enjoy each and every moment God gives us.
I hope your days are enjoyable and not too cool.
