Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Old Farmers Day is always celebrated on October 12th. Old Farmers Day honors the hard labor of farmers throughout American history. The month of October is a very appropriate month to celebrate and honor farmers. At this time, the harvest is largely complete. It means that farmers can take a break from their labors, to enjoy this celebration.
A farmers' work is long and hard. It certainly doesn't make a person rich. It has its good years, and its bad ones. There is no guarantee of a good crop. Weather, pests, and disease problems often prove disastrous. But, through it all, farmers have persevered. And, their ceaseless hard work sets an example for all.
As Americans, we tip our hat to all farmers for their contributions to American culture, values, society, and the economy. Happy Old Farmers Day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Some Old Farmers Wisdom
Your fences need to be horse high, pig tight and bull strong.
Keep skunks and bankers at a distance.
Life is simpler when you plow around the stump.
A bumble bee is considerably faster than a John Deere tractor.
Words that soak into your ears are whispered and not yelled.
Meanness don’t just happen overnight.
Forgive your enemies; it messes up their heads.
Do not corner something that you know is meaner than you.
It don’t take a very big person to carry a grudge.
You cannot unsay a cruel word.
Every path has a few puddles.
When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty.
The best sermons are lived, not preached.
Most of the stuff people worry about, ain’t never gonna happen anyway.
Don’t judge folks by their relatives.
Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
Live a good and honorable life, then when you get older and think back, you’ll enjoy it a second time.
Don’t interfere with somethin’ that ain’t bothering you none.
Timin’ has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.
If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin’.
Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got.
The biggest troublemaker you’ll probably ever have to deal with, watches you from the mirror every mornin’.
Always drink upstream from the herd.
Good judgment comes from experience, and a lotta that comes from bad judgment.
Lettin’ the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin’ it back in.
If you get to thinkin’ you’re a person of some influence, try orderin’ somebody else’s dog around.
Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, and leave the rest to God.
Author Unknown, but definitely an old farmer
Here in Ohio we do have a lot of farmers and I don’t have to travel very far at all to see lots and lots of farms. I’ve enjoyed the farmers road side stands this past summer and since I no longer have a garden of my own, I do appreciate the wonderful fresh vegetables and fruits that they grow. The pictures today are of some of the wonderful countryside here.
It looks like today will be the warmest one we’ll have this week. Today will be mid 70’s, the rest of the week will have highs in the 50’s and the 60’s. That is normal for us this time of year.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Let us not forget that the cultivation of the earth is the most important labor of man. When tillage begins, other arts will follow. The farmers, therefore, are the founders of civilization.
Daniel Webster
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
3211. for farmers, may they be richly blessed
3212. for the food they grow
3213. for abundant Ohio harvests
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
73 Days Until Christmas
Assessing the State of the Closet for all family members before the holidays begin means never having to say, It's in the wash! Take a few minutes and check the calendar now to see just what special days are coming up and then check the closet to see if you have what you’ll want to wear to those special occasions. It’s easy enough for me to do as I have only myself to keep on track, but those with a family will need to plan ahead.
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Like farmers we need to learn that we cannot sow and reap the same day.

A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

Pam, I have been such a poor reader and commenter lately. I hope you will forgive me for that! I don't know why I had never realized that you lived in Ohio, but until reading your post today I didn't realize it. That is one state I have always wanted to visit, but never gotten the chance to see. Hope your Monday is a lovely one! xoxo
I love seeing crops in the fields and always relish this sight when we are taking day trips or RV trips. My granddad was a farmer.
Hope your day is wonderful. I love the top picture....there is just something about pumpkins. :-)

No one at the National Agricultural center knew about this!
So thankful for farmers and those who work to produce food for us. Glad there is a day to recognize their work.
