Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
The fourth Saturday in October is Make a Difference Day. Initiated in 1990, this is a national day is for devoted to helping others by doing volunteer work in the community. The activity can be almost anything. It doesn't matter what project you take on. It doesn't matter whether you help a nonprofit organization, the community, your town, nursing home, a church, a food kitchen, or any other group in need. What matters is that you participate.
Make a commitment to help others for just one day. Make a difference on Make a Difference Day!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
I think each one of us can make a difference every day. Just by smiling or giving someone a kind word makes a big difference. I used to do a lot of volunteering and I’d like to think that what I did then made a difference to someone. Nowadays I have slowed down, but still like to help out when and where I can. Some days all I can do is say a prayer. We’re never too old to make a difference some how.
I noticed in an ad that there is a craft show going on close by here today, I don’t know whether or not I’ll get a chance to go, but there will be lots more in our area before Christmas gets here, so I’m hoping to visit some soon.
The days till Christmas are getting shorter along with hours of daylight we are experiencing. There is much to be done and when you live life in the slow lane, it takes a little more time to do it all.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Love and kindness are never wasted. They always make a difference. They bless the one who receives them, and they bless you, the giver.
Barbara de Angelis
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
3247 for volunteers that help others
3248. for kind words and smile, they do make a difference
3249. for prayers, they can change things
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
61 Days Until Christmas
Don’t forget the pets in your life this Christmas. Maybe you could buy them a new bone or a new play toy or even have your children make something that shows how much your family values that pet. Give your pet a little extra attention this holiday season. If you don’t have a pet, a donation to an animal shelter will always be appreciated.
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Do more than belong: participate. Do more than care: help. Do more than believe: practice. Do more than be fair: be kind. Do more than forgive: forget. Do more than dream: work.
William Arthur Ward
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

Such a cute pumpkin :) So true how we can all make a difference; I think prayer is the best thing people can do, so it is good Ma that you are a prayer warrior :)

Hi Pam, loving the photos in your last post. What a cutie pie. I love the idea of a Make a Difference Day. Can you imagine what a lovely world it would be if everyone just tried to make a difference? The mind boggles. Love your pumpkin photo also. SO cute! Have a super Saturday! xoxo
The company for which I work is BIG on giving-back ... as such, every associate is encouraged to volunteer at least 8 hours. Looking back at my efforts with the Child Crisis Nursery, I feel like I'M the one who most benefited.
