Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Sweetest Day is always celebrated on the third Saturday in October. Now here is a day dedicated just for your sweetie. It exists as an opportunity for you to recognize that sweet and special someone. It doesn’t matter who that person is, or what their relation to you. They just have to be ‘sweet' in order to get a little recognition.
A Cleveland, Ohio philanthropist and candy company employee started Sweetest Day. He wanted to bring happiness to orphans, shut ins and under privileged. His intent was to show these people that they were not forgotten. In 1922, he started this holiday by giving candy and small gifts.
The popularity of this holiday quickly spread. Today, it is celebrated with loved ones and friends. It’s a great day to just buy candy and distribute it like a reverse Halloween, handing out candy to friends, coworkers, and random people on the street to remind them to have the Sweetest Day of the year.
Happy Sweetest Day !

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt.
Charles M. Shultz
It’s always a good time to let your sweeties know how much they are appreciated and loved, and it’s nice to have a holiday to remind us all to do just that. Sometimes you just need a sweet treat, and Valentine ’s Day only comes once a year.
I discovered some wonderful candy in the store recently. It has flavors like caramel apple, pumpkin and marshmallow all covered in chocolate. Yum! Anyway since I can’t send them out in an email, I thought it might be a good time to share a recipe for a sweet treat for all of you on Sweetest Day.
Baked Pumpkin Donut Holes
1 3/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoons nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/8 teaspoons ground cloves
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup canned plain pumpkin
1/2 cup milk
For the Cinnamon-Sugary Coating:
1 stick of unsalted butter, melted
2/3 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons cinnamon
Preheat oven 350°F. Spray each cup in a 24 cup mini muffin tin with baking spray. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice & ground cloves.
In a separate, large bowl whisk together oil, brown sugar, egg, vanilla, pumpkin and milk until smooth. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix until just combined, do not over mix!
Divide batter evenly among muffin cups. Dropping by 1 to 2 tbsp in size. Bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
While the muffins bake, melt butter in one bowl and combine sugar and cinnamon in another bowl. Remove muffins from oven and cool for 2 minutes, or until just cool enough to handle. Dip each muffin in melted butter, then roll in cinnamon sugar to coat.
And if your really want some chocolate you can add some chocolate sprinkles to the coating mix!
Chocolates and candies and desserts, oh my! There’s nothing quite like a sweet treat at the end of the day to melt away all of the day’s stresses and sorrows.
I hope you all have a SUPER sweet Saturday!

68 Days Until Christmas
Brisk weather is on the way; time to clear out the coat closets! Whether it's making space for family cold weather gear or preparing for seasonal visitors, now's the time to clear out the coat closet.
Many families prefer to keep coats, umbrellas, gloves and galoshes in open storage areas. Hang coats on pegs, tuck boots under a low bench, and consider an over the door shoe rack to corral little mittens, hats and scarves.
Check closet space from a guest's perspective, too. Clear it out and be ready for Christmas!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU !
