Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
September 14th is GOOD NIGHT, JOHN BOY DAY
As lights went out in bedrooms throughout America, voices were heard repeating the good night routine performed on this, the first performance of The Waltons on CBS TV in 1972. Good night, John Boy, Good night, Jim Bob, Good night, Elizabeth and so on… Families tuned in every Thursday night to get a TV view of the life happenings of the Walton family. Nine years later, the children were grown up, going to college and getting married. Walton’s Mountain had changed and we all said Good night, John Boy for the last time, unless you’re like me and still watching the show in syndication.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Home is where your story begins...
I did faithfully watch the Waltons and still do watch a show every now and then and still find them worthwhile too. I think they expressed the good things in life like faith and family. They didn’t have a lot of money but that never stopped them from enjoying life. They were a good example for all of us.
I’ve shown pictures of the Rooster that hangs on my back door before, but I thought it fit in pretty well for the theme of the day so excuse the repeat.
Saying good night is something I fondly remember when I had small children at home. Many times we read a story and said our prayers together before tucking everyone in for the night. As the children got older I’d send them off to brush their teeth and go to bed and say their prayers on their own, but never before giving them a kiss good night. I miss those days but have plenty of good memories.
Now a days there is rarely anyone here to say good night to. But that doesn’t mean that prayers aren’t being said. I do cherish any time spent with my family and today it looks like I may see just a few of them too.
I hope you all have a restful and relaxing Sunday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Children are a gift of God.
Psalm 127:3
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for over almost 2 years and have now reached 2000 gifts. On my way now to 3000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
2036. for sweet goodnights
2037. for the Waltons, a family that set a good example
2038. for simpler times that make for good memories
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU !

I watched the Waltons and some nights as we were saying our good nights growing up, my brother and I would start a good night John Boy going back and forth.... Have a Happy Sunday with your family!! :)
I have watched some of the reruns it was a great show. I work at night all those years it was on, and missed seeing it then. I know what you mean, most of the time it is weeks before we see any of the family that lives nearby. Like you, most of them live to for away, but we see them twice a year.
