Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
September 8th is the Full Harvest Moon. The Harvest Moon is the full Moon nearest the autumnal equinox and is bright enough to allow finishing all the harvest chores. In early days, when farmers had no tractors, it was essential that they work by the light of the moon to bring in the harvest. This moon is the fullest moon of the year. When you gaze at it, it looks very large and gives a lot of light throughout the entire night. No other lunar spectacle is as awesome as the Harvest Moon
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
By all these lovely tokens
September days are here
With summer's best of weather
And autumn's best of cheer.

The first picture of the moon isn’t of the full moon but one I took last week. My camera doesn’t do well with pictures of the moon, but it was bright and very pretty in the evening sky.
There are now many trees that are starting to change color. You might look in one direction and think it’s fall, but you can also look the opposite way and think it is still very much summer. It’s still very green for the most part. Our grass hasn’t even taken on that brownish shade that often comes by the end of August. On a few of those really hot days it looked like it might start to brown out but the rain we had greened it right back up.
We still have some sweet peas blooming here and the brown eyed susans, and yes, even a few roses, but they are starting to look a little forlorn. The prettiest of my fall flowers seems to be the sedum and it’s is blooming nicely. My one remaining mum plant doesn’t have any buds at all on it yet and the beautiful hydrangeas have grown quite tall but never have a bud on them either. I think the hard winter we had last year affected them, but at least it didn’t freeze them out entirely.
Hard to believe that our growing season is coming to an end. I’ve so enjoyed seeing what blooms each day here around my house April through October.
I hope you all have a great start to this new week. Happy Monday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The moon belongs to everyone. The best things in life are free!
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for over almost 2 years and have now reached 2000 gifts. On my way now to 3000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
2018. for the blossoms that remain
2019. for the Harvest Moon
2020. for colorful leaves just starting to change here
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
If the storms of September clear off warm, the storms of the following winter will be warm.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

MA, I will pray that your little saying about the storms of September will be true here... but I think the Almanac is telling us about another cold winter!
I will have to keep my eye out tonight for the harvest moon. I bet the leaves that are changing are such a pretty color!
