WELCOME SEPTEMBER
September is Classical Music Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, Fall Hat Month, International Square Dancing Month, National Blueberry Popsicle Month, National Courtesy Month, National Piano Month, Chicken Month, Baby Safety Month, Little League Month, Honey Month, Self Improvement Month, Better Breakfast Month
Today is Labor Day.
Labor day is always on the first Monday in September. It is dedicated in honor of the worker, it is also appropriately called the ’workingman's holiday'. The holiday is dedicated to you in respect and appreciation for the work you do in or outside of the home, union or non-union, big company, small companies, or government. As long as you work somewhere at something, this holiday is for you!
We need to value the everyday work we do, not just once a year, but every day.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A mind always employed is always happy. This is the true secret, the grand recipe, for felicity.
Thomas Jefferson
I’ve found that there is always something to do… living life, having fun, keeping busy, making memories. The days are really never long enough for all I’d like to do. As far as I can remember, I’ve never been bored. Of course I move slower these days and often rest more than I work, but I’m very thankful that there are still things I can do. We need to fall in love with as many things as possible. Variety is the spice of life. We should be the reason someone Smiles today!
Don’t compare your life to others. Some think they can’t be happy unless they are doing certain things, but when you have a variety of things you like to do, there is always something good you can do. I remember the elves that were always whistling while they worked. They were happy in what they had to do and I think that is a great way to be. I’m not very good at whistling but I do know a lot about being happy.
It’s wonderful that we have a day for rest and play. Every one needs a break from work. I’m a firm believer in the fact that without proper rest and relaxation, our work won’t be half as good as it could be otherwise.
I hope you all have a safe and happy Labor Day!
I am only one, but I am one. I can't do everything, but I can do something. The something I ought to do, I can do. And by the grace of God, I will
Edward Everett Hale
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Thank God every morning when you get up, that you have something to do that day which must be done, whether you like it or not. Being forced to work and forced to do your best will breed in you temperance and self-control, diligence and strength of will, cheerfulness and content, and a hundred virtues which the idle never know.
Charles Kingsley
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for over a year and have now reached over 1900 gifts. On my way to 2000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1997. for work to do that keeps my mind busy
1998. for rest and play, necessary refreshment
1999. for a changing forecast, we had a dry Sunday now only have a 20% chance of rain today
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Have courage for the great sorrows of life, and patience for the small ones. When you have laboriously accomplished your daily tasks, go to sleep in peace. God is awake.
Victor Hugo

Have a wonderful Labor Day!
Love those black-eyed Susans!
I like your thought, Ma, of not comparing our lives to others. I sometimes find myself doing that, but I need to be more grateful for the wonderful life God has given me :)
Enjoy your Labor Day!

Happy Labor Day! We celebrated Labor day with DIL laboring to bring grandbaby into the world. And then hubby and I going to work. 😂👶❤
I think life is happiest Pam when we don't measure our lives next to others. There is no joy to be found in comparisons I don't think. You are so right. Love the thought from Charles Kingsley! I am a quote lover as you know. We don't celebrate Labor day over here. There will be no holidays now until Christmas. I really do miss Thanksgiving. Sigh . . .
