Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
July 18TH is WIENERMOBILE DAY. Every now and then a commercial jingle becomes something other than a commercial. It becomes a part of Americana. And so it goes with the Oscar Mayer Wiener Jingle, I wish I were an Oscar Mayer Wiener. But long before the jingle entered our lives, Carl Mayer, nephew of Oscar Mayer, invented another quaint entry into Americana: the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile.
The first Wienermobile rolled out of General Body Company’s factory in Chicago on this day in 1936. The Wienermobile tours around the U.S. fascinating children of all ages as it promotes the famous Oscar Mayer wiener. For those of you who have never seen it - it’s a giant hot dog on wheels . Those who drive the Wienermobile are known as Hotdoggers

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
So long as there's a jingle in your head, television isn't free.
Jason Love
Isn’t it funny how those old time jingles do stick with you? I think we all have a favorite or two. Remember Double your pleasure, double your fun with Wrigley’s peppermint gum, and Alka-Seltzer's Plop, Plop, Fizz,Fizz, Oh what a relief it is?
Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy more. Media messages about body shape and size will affect the way we feel about our bodies and ourselves only if we let them. Remember that the media's definitions of beauty and success do not have to define our self image or potential.
I can so remember one of my children telling me that I should switch the detergent I was using to wash clothes, because such and such brand made everything cleaner. Little did I know that my children paid so much attention to advertisements. I had to explain that not everything on TV was true. They only say those things so that we’ll buy their products. Young minds soak up everything like a sponge. We really have to be careful about what they absorb.
We all should be careful about what we believe. Everything published is not true. It is said that the average person sees 3000 ads a day. That’s a lot ! In some ways we are all walking talking advertisements. What we do and how we live will say a lot about us too.
After a few days of beautiful cooler temps here, they say we are going to begin heating up for the weekend. Not bad though as temps will be in the low 80’s for the most part.
I hope you all have a fantastic Friday
Today you are You,
that is truer than true.

PRAYER REQUEST
DDIL#6 has written asking for prayers for her mom who had to have unexpected laser eye surgery the other day. Part of her retina tore and was making everything blurry. She goes back Monday to be checked again. As long as the surgery fixed the problem then her sight should gradually get better. the Dr. is afraid that there might be another rip in the retina behind the one he fixed. If so she would have to have actual eye surgery. So we are praying that it is fixed and he doesn’t find any other problems. Please add her for prayers that they have fixed the problem and it is not worse.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Cheerfulness is the best promoter of health and is as friendly to the mind as to the body.
Joseph Addison
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for over a year and have now reached over 1800 gifts. On my way to 2000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.

Lovely post--as usual! Love the quote from Dr. Seuss. Know that I will keep your friend in prayer.
I remember seeing the Wienermobile a few years ago in another city we lived in. It was touring the area, fun to see! Yep, I do remember the catchy jingles for advertisements, lots of them going through my head right now :)

Keeping your friend in my prayers Pam! I have never seen the wiener mobile, but have heard of it. I love the old jingles. I remember the Pepsident one, "You'll wonder where the yellow went, when you brush your teeth with pepsident!" Then there was the Mr Clean one. Oh, and I used to love the Palmolive dish soap commercials with Maxine the manicurest. OH, and Josephine the plumber. My brain is ticking now! Thanks for the memories! xxoo
