Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is New Friends Day. Old friends may be invaluable, but new friends are a welcome bonus as well. Celebrate the day with fun and joy and start making new friends.
Happy Tip Of The Day: Meet New People, Make New Friends
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Old friends pass away, new friends appear. It is just like the days. An old day passes, a new day arrives. The important thing is to make it meaningful: a meaningful friend - or a meaningful day.
Dalai Lama
Most of my friends are ones I’ve known for a long long time. I do have a few new friends and I met those new ones mainly because of my blog. They are bloggers too and left comments there introducing themselves. They come from different parts of the country and I so enjoy seeing the sights of their part of the world and hearing about what they do. Some are retired like me and others are still working. But because of them I’ve done some armchair traveling seeing places I wouldn’t otherwise get to see.
When I was younger it was easier to make new friends as I got out and about much more than I do now. When you are involved in family activities like scouting, sports and school, there are lots of people to meet. Now a days I’m still involved with my family but not out and about so much and I still do get to meet some new people now and then. It won’t be long till I’ll be meeting a new grand daughter and I’m hoping we’ll be the very best of friends. She’ll be arriving sometime around the beginning of August and that’s not very far away at all.
Tomorrow is the 3rd Sunday of the month which means for me cooking dinner for and having those in my family that can make it over to enjoy a meal together. I love it when we can be together and catch up on what is going on. DS#5 and his family will be leaving for the Ohio State Fair on Monday and DD and her family just got done with some vacation time so I’m sure we’ll have lots to talk about.
The pictures today are of some of the fun times a few of my grand children have been having this summer.
I hope you all have a super Saturday!
Why we need best friends:
Because they laugh at the same stupid things we do
Because the give us honest advice
Because they will be there for us, even if they’re thousands of miles away
Because they celebrate with us when we’re at our best, but still love us at our worst.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
A friend knows the song in my heart and sings it to me when my memory fails.
Donna Roberts
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for over a year and have now reached over 1800 gifts. On my way to 2000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1865. for friends, old and new

1867. for opportunities to enjoy being with my family and my friends

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver, the other is gold.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

I loved seeing all of the photos of your grands Pam. How very sweet are they. I especially like the last one of your grandson with his truck. How cute! I am not making friends now that I am older like I used to. I have church friends, but without things as you say, like scouting, etc. the possibility is not there. There was a pub down south that had a plaque on the wall which said simply ... "There are no strangers here, only friends we have yet to meet." I love that sentiment! Happy Saturday! xxoo
Love these definitions of 'best' friends.
Tho' I'm surrounded (at work) with associates - most of who could be my children or (gasp!) my grandchildren - it's easy to feel alone.
I never expected to feel this way, but some of my new, 'best' friends are as close as my computer!
Congrats on the new grandbaby ... can't wait to see her pictures!
I am sure you and your new grand daughter will be the best of friends, Ma! I am sure your other grandchildren consider you a great grandmother and a wonderful friend ndeed! Because I work at home and don't get out much,it seems the majority of my friends are blogging buddies too :)
