Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
July 30th is Rain Day. Throughout human history, people and cultures all over the world have celebrated rain and it’s life-giving power. All life is dependent on rain, and rain is what keeps our world green and fresh and beautiful. Rain is no less important today than it has been in the past, and now people around the world have Rain Day, a day to celebrate all things wet and wonderful.
You don’t have to be a farmer with your eye on the latest batch of crops to be concerned with rain, and there are many things the ordinary person can do to celebrate. If you’re lucky enough to be somewhere where it rains on Rain Day, you can head outside to dance, sing, or just walk in the rain. If it doesn’t happen to be raining, you can serve up a delicious meal of fresh greens and other things that depend on the rain to grow, and reflect on how lucky we are to live in a rainy world.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
And when it rains on your parade, look up rather than down. Without the rain, there would be no rainbow.
Gilbert K. Chesterton
The past few days brought a lot of rain to our part of the country. We may even get some more today. The only thing good about it for me is that I did have some indoor time to get lots done. Not a lot of housework is being done at all but there has been some painting going on. Santa ma’s workshop has been a busy place. Soon I’ll be done with Thanksgiving and can move on to Christmas.
There is not a lot of anything new going on for me, although I feel like I’m on pins and needles waiting for the newest grand child to be born. Time is very short now.
Rainy days don't get me down. I continue to keep busy and make my own sunshine when I have to.
I hope you all have a terrific Tuesday!
Life Is A Miracle
Life is a miracle
Don't let it slip away,
Open your heart to others
Give of yourself each day.
See the beauty in everyone
Regardless of where they've been,
Some have a difficult journey
And really need a friend.
Share your gifts and talents
Listen with your heart.
Do the things you dream about
But don't have time to start.
Pick a bouquet of flowers
Show someone that you care,
Be gracious and forgiving
Life is never fair.
Hold on to your courage
You may need it down the road,
We all have a cross to bear
It could be a heavy load.
If you practice all these things
No matter where you roam,
You may find both sun and rain
But you'll never feel alone!

COUNTING MY GIFTS
Thank you, dear God, for this good life and forgive us if we do not love it enough. Thank you for the rain. And for the chance to wake up in three hours and go fishing: I thank you for that now, because I won't feel so thankful then.
Garrison Keillor
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for over a year and have now reached over 1800 gifts. On my way to 2000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1895. for the rainy days that make the sunny days even brighter
1896. for time to get things done inside
1897. for the wonderful fresh veggies now appearing on the road side stands in Ohio
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.
Dolly Parton
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

I liked that life poem, Ma. I like Rain Day too; wish we would get some today, but highly doubtful; we could use a lot of rain days here :) I know you are excited to get to meet your new little grand daughter so very soon!

Pam, I have loved all of your thoughts on rain and the poem. I can remember thinking, prior to my moving over here to the UK, that a rainy day was a day that I couldn't get anything done or go anywhere. My first year here, it rained literally every day. At that time it was the wettest year on record. I quickly had to learn that people don't actually melt in the rain and while it was a bit much for every day, I have come to appreciate it a lot more. Especially a gentle rain. Have a lovely day. I can feel your excitement over the new wee granddaughter! xxoo
