THOUGHT FOR TODAY
America! America! God shed his grace on thee. And crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea!
Katharine Lee Bates
This is a long weekend for most everyone. I got to see the fireworks from DS#6’s front yard last night. Today I'm back home. I came over here with DS#5 and his family. It’s always better to celebrate with family and I’m thankful I got the chance to be with a few of them anyway!
Most holidays at my house used to be celebrated with some frothy slosh mixed up in my punch bowl. I found this recipe online for Fire Cracker Party Punch and thought you might enjoy it too.
4 cups cranberry juice
1 1/2 cup sugar
4 cups pineapple juice
1 Tablespoon almond extract
2 quarts ginger ale
Combine cranberry juice, sugar and pineapple juice. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Add ginger ale just before serving. And in order to make it frothy slosh you have to add some sherbet to float around the top. Give it all a stir and it will froth right up!
Hopefully I’ll have pictures of my 4th of July celebration to share with you all later on. Whatever you are doing and wherever you are this holiday, remember just how fortunate we are to live in the land of the free and the home of the brave. Have a safe and happy holiday!
Happy 4th of July!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The four cornerstones of character on which the structure of this nation was built are: Initiative, Imagination, Individuality and Independence.
Edward Rickenbacker
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for over a year and have now reached over 1800 gifts. On my way to 2000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1820 for our country
1821. for our freedoms
1822. for a beautiful weekend
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!

Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters

How fun to see fireworks the day before the 4th, Ma. Neat too that you were with family while doing so! I am thankful we do live in a free country indeed!

Hope you have a great holiday weekend, isn't it great that the 4th is on a Friday, this year?
In Atlanta, at our baseball games, we sing "Land of the Free and the home of the BRAVES".
Ha! We are so funny! xx
I hope you had a lovely time with your family Pam! Your punch sounds gorgeous! That is something which is not often done over here. I miss it! I have always loved America and Americans. You have a wonderful country in my opinion! xxoo
