49 DAYS UNTIL FALL
Sunrise: 6:28 am
Sunset: 8:39 pm
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
August 6th marks the midpoint of the summer. Midsummer Day is a most appropriate occasion for hosting or attending a barbecue, picnic or other outdoor gathering.
At half past summer, have you considered what plans you still hope to accomplish during the warmer months? What getaways, family vacations or honey-do projects do you want to address, while summer remains?
Happy Midsummer Day on August 6th.
There's a time each year
That we always hold dear,
Good old summer time;
With the birds and the trees'es
And sweet scented breezes,
Good old summer time,
When you day's work is over
Then you are in clover,
And life is one beautiful rhyme,
No trouble annoying,
Each one is enjoying,
The good old summer time.
Lyrics by Ron Shields, In the Good Old Summertime
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Whilst August yet wears her golden crown,
Ripening fields lush- bright with promise;
Summer waxes long, then wanes, quietly passing
Her fading green glory on to riotous Autumn.
Michelle L. Thieme, August's Crown
Mid Summers Day is usually thought of as the Summer Solstice, the first day of summer, but actually it is today. Mid point between the first day of summer and the first day of fall. Although many will be going back to school soon and vacations are ending, we'll still be enjoying summer until September 22nd, when the first day of fall begins.
We'll have lots to do and celebrate between now and the beginning of fall and hopefully will have some lovely weather to do it all in too. Half of summer is gone, but we still have the other half to enjoy!
The days are getting shorter minute by minute now but they are still longer than the will be. I'm not looking forward to longer nights when the days seem so short. I know every day is something to be thankful for so I'll be making the most of today!
The pictures today are of the lantern DS#5 released for Mr. Wonderful's birthday celebration last August. They are beautiful to watch.
I hope you all have a terrific Tuesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
There shall be eternal summer in the grateful heart.
Celia Thaxter
I am trying to count at least 3 things I'm thankful for each day and then in 1 year's time I'll have counted 1000 gifts. I’ll be sharing them and giving thanks to God for these gifts each day.
830. for the 2nd half of Summer
831. for summer celebrations
832. for warm days and sunshine!
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU !
Summer's lease hath all too short a date.
William Shakespeare
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

Happy Midsummer's Day. Love the lantern pictures - they are cool. Blessings
It's hard to believe mid summer is already here and passed. We have had a lovely one this year however, so we can't complain. WE don't get those very often! Hope your Wednesday is as special as you are Pam! xxoo
The lantern is such a fun idea. Thank you for the mid summer reminder. I always feel like summer is over when school starts. :)
