34 DAYS UNTIL FALL
Sunrise: 6:42 am
Sunset: 8:24 pm
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
It's Spicy Food Day on August 19th. Barbecue parties, chili cook offs, taco eating contests and other fun food festivities celebrate the hottest and spiciest cuisine of the year on August 19th.
Why not add a little spice to your life and your diet, on August 19th? Pick a pepper, have a jalapeno and go for the gusto on Spicy Food Day.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Variety is the very spice of life that gives it all its flavor.
William Cowper
While I do love a good bowl of chili or a taco now and then, they are on the mild side of things. I do believe we need to add a little spice to our lives now and then for variety.
I've been eating more fresh veggies and fruits lately so today may just be a good day for taco salad and not a hot bowl of chili. Soon enough, just a little over a month now, fall will be here and then is when I'll be making chili. I do love it and always make a big batch so that I can put some in the freezer to be enjoyed later on too.
Here is my favorite chile recipe
Chili Con Carne
2lbs. ground beef
1/2tbsp.salt
2large onions, chopped
2 med. green peppers, chopped
2 cans kidney beans, drained, 1 pound each
1 can crushed tomatoes, 1 pound 13 oz.
1 can tomato sauce, 15 oz.
1tbsp.chili powder
1 teasp. garlic powder
2 bay leaves, finely
Season ground beef with salt and pepper.
Brown the meat in a large Dutch oven or kettle.
Add onion and green pepper; cook till tender but not brown.
Add remaining ingredients.
Cover and simmer 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
Add water, if needed for desired consistency.
Makes approximately 12 servings - about 1 cup each
You can brown your meat and onions and peppers and then after adding all the ingredients place this in a slow cooker to let simmer if you want.
Here's wishing you a bright, positive day, a chance to start anew. Hope you all have a wonderful Monday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
It’s when you count blessings — you see Who can be counted on
I am trying to count at least 3 things I'm thankful for each day and then in 1 year's time I'll have counted 1000 gifts. I’ll be sharing them and giving thanks to God for these gifts each day.
869. for spices,
870. for tacos and chili
871. for a great variety of food to enjoy
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU !
Sincerity resembles a spice. Too much repels you and too little leaves you wanting.
