44 DAYS UNTIL FALL
Sunrise: 6:32 am
Sunset: 8:34 pm
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
The lazy days of summer are here, and August 10th has been tagged as Lazy Day.
Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer,
Those days of soda and pretzels and beer.
Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer.
You'll wish that summer could always be here.
Nat King Cole, arranged by Ralph Carmichael
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
There is no cure for laziness but a large family helps.
Herbert Prochnov
For many this Saturday marks the last Saturday before school begins, so I'm sure it is a little crazy. Here at home school doesn't begin till the last week of August so we can still be a little lazy.
I have more lazy days than crazy days anymore so that is a good thing for sure! I do remember those days of getting ready for back to school. Clothes and shoe shopping were always a must and then there were the school supplies. Many of our local stores used to label supplies with the school names so you knew just what supplies to purchase.
When my babes were young the school would always have an ice cream social to kick off the new school year. It was there that we'd receive our back to school packet with a list of supplies needed and everyone would find out which classroom they'd be in that year and who'd be their teacher. It was always an exciting time and the ice cream wasn't bad either.
I always hated to see school start again because my lazy days would end and the crazy days begin. I enjoyed summer then and still do now.
I'll be praying for all starting school this year both the children and the adults. May the dear Lord bless you all with a great new school year.
Lord, thank You for the men and women who dedicate their lives to educating children. I ask You to bless them with strength, joy, favor with students and parents, and a strong sense of purpose. Make them fruitful in every way. Give them wisdom, creativity, patience, insight, and endurance. Give them Your supernatural love for each student. Use these teachers to make an eternal difference in the lives of their students. I pray that their families will have an easy and peaceful transition into the school year.
I also pray for all of our students, particularly those who are entering new schools this year. Father, please give them courage, peace, and joy. Let them make friends easily and connect well with their teachers. Let them find their security in You, Lord. Please sharpen their minds and help them learn. Build godly character in them. Help them obey You even when it’s really hard.
I pray all of these things in the strong and mighty name of Jesus. Amen!
Today's pictures are just a few of my grands when school started in years past.
Whatever point you find yourself at this Saturday, crazy or lazy, I hope you all have a super Saturday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
It’s when you count blessings — you see Who can be counted on
I am trying to count at least 3 things I'm thankful for each day and then in 1 year's time I'll have counted 1000 gifts. I’ll be sharing them and giving thanks to God for these gifts each day.
842. for teachers
843. for students
844. for schools
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU !
The time will come when winter will ask you what you were doing all summer.

A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
