43 DAYS UNTIL FALL
Sunrise: 6:33 am
Sunset: 8:33 pm
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
August 11th is known as Garage Sale Day. Although actual garage and yard sales are generally held on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, this handy holiday offers an opportunity for preparation and planning. Celebrate August 11th, Garage Sale Day, by scheduling a garage sale or scanning the garage sale listings in the local newspaper.
One man's trash is another man's treasure.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A bargain is something you can't use at a price you can't resist.
Franklin P. Jones
I'm sure that my basement does have a few lurking dust bunnies, but I'm not planning on any garage sales. I've tried that many times but have never had much luck at it. However I did visit a few sales along the Lincoln Highway Buy Ways days this past week. This historical Ohio Byway stretches the width of our state and for fun we decided to travel the whole thing from east to west using just a little over 2 days to do it in.
There were a lot of garage sales along the way but the first day many were rained out and closed due to the heavy rains we got. The pictures today are of the 2nd day which was thankfully much drier. It started out rather ominous but it cleared up and was a beautiful day. It's always fun to browse some sales, as we all know what some consider trash, others consider treasure.
The picture above shows a big L sign someone had in their yard. It represents the Lincoln Highway. We appreciated all the signs along the way as sometimes we were doubtful about whether or not we were on the right road. There were definitely a lot of sales from east to west. Sadly I didn't find anything at all to buy but it was fun to look.
Being as it is Sunday morning, I'll be off to church a little later and just relaxing here today from all the sale shopping done earlier in the week. Sipping my good cup of hot coffee!
Hope you all have a relaxing and restful Sunday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
It’s when you count blessings — you see Who can be counted on
I am trying to count at least 3 things I'm thankful for each day and then in 1 year's time I'll have counted 1000 gifts. I’ll be sharing them and giving thanks to God for these gifts each day.
845. for beautiful Ohio By Ways
846. for a day to relax
847. for others trash that becomes our treasures
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU !
Is it true that the only difference between a yard sale and a trash pickup is how close to the road the stuff is placed?
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

I have a whole hallway full of items to be donated. Working retail I don't like having yard sales either. I do find putting larger items on the curb with a free sign go quite fast. :)
