August 18th is Soft Serve Ice Cream Day.  Grab a cone or a cup of your favorite soft serve ice cream. You can choose from chocolate, vanilla or any other variety of this delicious frozen dairy treat.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

The the first picture today is of a cute soft serve ice cream shop we saw when coming home from our day trips recently.  The picture directly above is one of my little grandson's after he had enjoyed some of the chocolate variety. And the picture below is his little sister - AB who got to enjoy her very first french fry.  And the very last picture is of DS#1's 3 children enjoying summer shortly before school started for all of them last week.

Summertimes always seems to bring with it some trips out for an ice cream treat and I will be the first to say I love it.  Even when you have to lick fast to keep up with the drips, it is good!  With the very cool days we've had this past week, it's beginning to seem like fall is coming our way quickly.  I just hope that isn't an indication of an early winter.  Our local TV weather guru says it's too early yet to predict what winter might be like.

Meanwhile, I'm still trying to enjoy what is left of summer.  Today is our family 3rd Sunday dinner and I'll have plenty of summers bounty to share with everyone.  Everything seems to taste so much better when it's fresh.

I wanted to thank you all for the prayers for DD's niece on her hubby's side of the family, Her baby, a boy, was born yesterday and mom and babe are both doing just fine.  He was early but still weighed in at 4 lbs. 5 oz.!

COUNTING MY GIFTS

I am trying to count at least 3 things I'm thankful for each day and then in 1 year's time I'll have counted 1000 gifts. I’ll be sharing them and giving thanks to God for these gifts each day.

Please pray for God's protection of

our troops and HIS wisdom for their

commanders.

 

Lord, hold our troops in

your loving hands.

Protect them as they protect us.

Bless them and their families for the

selfless acts they perform for us

in our time of need. I ask this in the

name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters

and Paramedics and EMT's
