29 DAYS UNTIL FALL
Sunrise: 6:47 am
Sunset: 8:14 pm
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
Crunch! Crunch! It's Potato Chip Day on August 24th.
On August 24, 1853, George Crum, a resort restaurant chef in Saratoga Springs, New York, sliced his potatoes extra thin for a critical customer. Apparently, the disgruntled diner whined that his fried potatoes were soggy, so the chef produced crispy and crunchy chips. The idea for Crum's Saratoga Chips caught on, and the potato chip was born.
Grab a bag of your best potato chips on August 24th. Dig right in on this fine foodie holiday.
Bet you can't eat just one…
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Don't flip, potato chip.
DS#1 and his wife are what I'd call foodies. They love to cook and always fix the most delicious meals. When we used to camp together they would often fix some home made potato chips for us to feast on.
They were really simple to fix and were delicious. Simply slice your potatoes very thin and deep fry till crispy. Sprinkle with a little salt and serve.
The pictures today are of DS#1 and his wife cooking up some wonderful food. We no longer camp together, but they are still stirring up some good food.
Hope you all have a super Saturday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
It’s when you count blessings — you see Who can be counted on
I am trying to count at least 3 things I'm thankful for each day and then in 1 year's time I'll have counted 1000 gifts. I’ll be sharing them and giving thanks to God for these gifts each day.
884. for chips, the more the merrier
885. for potatoes, they make any meal a little better
886. for foodies, those people that enjoy good food and make delicious meals
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
It is easy to halve the potato where there is love.
Proverb
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma
